With the other refugees, the triggers for PTSD reactions were the obvious culprits--noises that resembled explosions, electrical smells, or smells of gasoline or chlorine, sudden flashes, crowds--but with the boy, it wasn't clear. Some moments--could be the calmest, most tranquil moments--he'd be trembling as if from an essential #tremor. No telling what set it off or relieved it, but one thing was known: when he was with #horses, his hands & body were steady and gentle.

#Wss366 Tremor #TimeTravelAuthors 08/17. Does anyone travel to the future? What did they (or would they) think of it?

I made my way back into the meadow at the forest’s edge and sat down where I could see both the woodland path and the trampled circle below. Strawberries gleamed in the nearby grass, and I idly picked a few.

When I sampled one, a tart sweetness spread across my tongue, reminiscent of wild Écouves berries.

The Écouves Forest; that was an odd detail to remember. Even though I had forgotten my past, I still had access to a lot of random information. I understood that was common for people with amnesia.

The fruit was truly delicious, better than ones I’d had at fancy restaurants, like on the Hindenburg.

I stopped, and a #tremor passed through me: another memory! It was just a brief glimpse, but I could extrapolate from it. The Hindenburg crashed in 1937. I didn’t know what the current date was, but nothing like the sphinx had existed in the history I “knew.” This must be the future. Given the age of the monolith, it was the far future!

None of this made sense. Maybe none of it was real. Was I a psychotic patient in a mental ward?

I looked around for any sign that I was hallucinating. I pinched myself. It was a cliché test, but the pain reassured me. My chaotic memories were bizarre, but the world was stable, unlike a delusion or dream. The majestic trees appeared ageless, yet otherwise mundane. There was no sinister overlay to the oaks, ash, and pines. The grass smelled fresh and green. A wind with the subtle scent of summer brushed my cheek. It seemed idyllic. Nothing like the ravings of a mad person. Rather lonely, though.

I gave up on my speculation and followed the flow of my thoughts. I wished Emily were there with me. Yes, Emily! A vague image of a woman arose. She had bobbed, short, black hair, brilliant blue eyes, and a slight Asian cast to her features.

“Emily, Emily, Emily,” I said to myself. Was she my girlfriend, partner, or coworker? Whoever she was, she was important to me.

The last strawberry went into my mouth. She would have loved these. I almost heard her say, “They’re peachy; the cat’s pajamas.” Her deep-timbered voice blended with the sound of flutes.

At first, I thought I’d imagined the music. But no, the wind from the woods was carrying it to me. I wasn’t alone!

Gestern einen Podcast gehört, der davon berichtete, dass ein Mann, weil er keine Termine bei Fachärzten und sowieso keine Diagnose bekam, anfing sich von ChatGPT therapieren zu lassen, und letztendlich vom Bot ein Medikament vorgeschlagen bekam, das in keinster Weise seinem Krankheitsbild entsprach, aber half. Sofort habe ich den Impuls mit einer KI über den Tremor zu reden. Vielleicht gibt es für mich auch so ein abwegiges Medikament. Und tatsächlich ergibt mein „Gespräch“ mit der KI, dass es zielführend sein kann, eine äitiologische Abklärung zu verfolgen, etwas, das die Ärzte in Bonn von Anfang an vorgeschlagen haben, meine Neurologin hielt es aber nicht für notwendig. Sie sagte, als ich sie bat, mir zu erklären, wofür das wichtig sei, es wäre nur für Forschungszwecke relevant und würde mir aktuell nicht weiterhelfen. Die KI aber sagt, es gibt Tremor Gene und die Ärzte der UKB wollen sicher gehen, welche neurologischen Krankheiten vielleicht außerdem hinter dem Tremor stecken, sie wollen die Diagnose vervollständigen, um sicher zu gehen, was genau sie eigentlich behandeln.

Seit ich die Absage der Ärzte aus Bonn habe, seit dieser kryptische Brief hier auf dem Tisch liegt, in dem mir mitgeteilt wurde, mein Fall sei zu speziell, mein Tremor zu wenig typisch, passieren mir häufiger Ungeschicklichkeiten. Ich gieße mir den Inhalt eines Glases versehentlich in den Ausschnitt, ich verschütte das Mehl, obwohl das Behältnis in das ich es schütten will, ausreichend groß ist. Vielleicht habe ich die Absage doch nicht so gleichmütig hingenommen, vielleicht ist all mein Gerede von „es wird schon gut sein so wie es ist“, nur Besänftigung. Auch bei der Arbeit nimmt die Behinderung immer mehr Raum ein, Raum der dann woanders fehlt, zeitlich, oder in Form von Fehlerfreiheit. Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wie das jetzt weitergehen soll, aber irgendwie wird es schon weitergehen.

Eine Freundin sagte kürzlich, dass es doch seltsam sei, dass die Inuit so viele Begriffe für Schnee haben und wir so gut wie keine Synonyme für Leere. Darüber denke ich seitdem nach. Vielleicht mache ich ein kleines Projekt daraus, indem ich versuche mich anzunähern an die unterschiedlichen Formen der Leere, für die uns die Begriffe fehlen.

Das wird aufwändig die ganzen Medikamente und die jeweilige Dosierung zu dokumentieren, sagte sie vor ungefähr drei Stunden. jetzt hat sie mir den Arztbrief cc geschickt.

A friend just linked me to the "Essential3" Ulixacaltamide study. You had mentioned the earlier phases in Nov 2023. I did the "qualification" test online and they said I fit. But when I go to the appointment page to setup an intake call, it says "No times available in February" and won't let me advance to March. Or provide any other contact route.

Searching the web for the Praxis company, it is all about other test failures and the stock price tanking from $20 to $1.

I've been using a lot more #voiceRecognition recently, because it's helpful when I need to write longer bits of text and my #tremor is preventing me from typing quickly.

Just the standard OS level implementations on Android and Mac OS are pretty good for my needs, but I've come to realise that my speaking brain is a lot lot more long-winded than my typing brain. Sorry about that.

Just the Earth saying good morning here in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Felt a little different than most rumblings around here which are either trucks or construction.
