Day 26 – Trek Book (fiction or non-fiction)

I've been looking forward to this prompt. I want all your book recommendations!

So... which one to choose? There are so many.

Here are just a very few of my personal highlights:

Fiction:
📘 "Articles of the Federation" by Keith R. A. DeCandido. -- a unique book as it is a novel about politics and procedures in the Presidential Palace in Paris. I could read a whole series of that. Or watch one. I'd be happy with a mini series.
📚 "Destiny" trilogy by David Mack. -- I had read a few spoilers a while ago and really did not want to read these books. I was upset about the big reveal. But I kept hearing about how great they are and so I finally did read them. I am so glad I did. It's fantastic! It's dramatic and heartbreaking. I cried several times. And I am still upset. LOL Good books do that.

Non-fiction:
📖 "Star Trek: Open a Channel: A Woman's Trek" by Nana Visitor. -- I have not read far into it yet, but I don't think I am wrong when I say that this is probably the most important non-fiction book about Star Trek.
📓 "The Making of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". -- One of the first Trek books I ever bought. I love making of books, they are always so very intersting. And this is no exception. (I never liked the translation though and would love to have an English version.)

I want a President Rillak/ Capt. Burnham/ President T'Rina novel with a good dose of Admiral Vance and Lt. Sahil. And I want it to be written by Keith R. A. DeCandido because I want it to be about Federation politics and he does it best.

I also want a Rillak/ Burnham/ T'Rina road... space? trip story. I want to see them have a lot of fun and solve some situation at the same time. I want that one to be written by Cassandra Rose Clarke.

How do I get the relevant people to a) listen to me, and b) fulfil both those wishes? I'd be happy with one if I have to.

Yes, I know Amazon is EVIL. And I do hate them. However, I do use the Kindle app on my iPad. Unfortunately, it was the best option for me. I am not promoting Amazon. Of these 6 books, I have only read Abyss. It was exceptionally good. At the end of the day, .99 cents is .99 cents. #TrekBooks #StarTrek

Finally, The Autobiography of Benjamin Sisko is released. That took forever. So they are calling it an autobiography written by Jake? #StarTrek #TrekBooks

I've only had about 2 times to sit down with this Alex White #DS9 novel. Without giving away anything, it started out so nice and lovely and fun and then turned seriously dark. There are many, but not all, #TrekBooks writers who do that. I don't particularly care for that style. I mean, I'm not against plot development, but to mislead the reader is an entirely different thing. It is like an attack against the reader's expectations, which has its place, but not with most #StarTrek novels.

Finally starting Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Revenant by Alex White

It has been on my To-Read stack for some time.

I've been reading #StarTrek: #StrangeNewWorlds: High Country very slowly. I have just been working long hours (and will continue to do so this weekend and into next week) and have been too exhausted to find the mental space to read.

John Jackson Miller is a good author, though I would not rate him among the best #TrekBooks authors. It is written to be a fast read, for sure. It is also written for a lay audience. It works as a one-off #StarTrekSNW episode, though.

Recommend, with caution.
