Some of my best postcard openers over the years: "Did you know Dunedin has a Cadbury factory you can smell from the street," and "We visited during the day so at least we didn't have any vampires to contend with" (that one was Bran Castle). Full guide to writing postcards people actually want to keep, with 30 years of my own examples: https://travel.sidewalksafari.com/how-to-write-a-good-postcard/

I’ll leave some flexibility, but would like to have a good plan and probably most accommodation booked in advance.
I’m well aware of the excellent work by @seatsixtyone, but other thoughts welcomed.
Unfortunately timings mean I might miss the last Glacier Express train on 10 Oct, but I might just be able to make that work.
I’m also thinking to book advance tickets (not inter-rail for the journey back through France, given the reservations needed anyway)

I’m planning an #InterRail trip for 8-10 days in early October, so looking for tips/suggestions.
Rough plan is from Netherlands, though Germany and spend some time exploring the Alps, Austria/Switzerland/Italy, then EuroStar back to UK on last day.
Definitely taking some of the scenic Alpine railways, but also keen to explore some interesting places along the way.
Will go back, so don’t need to cram everything in, and while I enjoy walking, not planning any strenuous hikes.

Israel is small. Getting around it is not obvious.
My full guide is up now. Buses, trains, taxis, the shared taxis that work like nothing else you have ridden, the card you cannot travel without, and the Hebrew that makes all of it easier.
Save it before your next trip 👇

Queluz Palace is 40 minutes from central Lisbon by train, about 2 EUR one way, plus roughly 11 EUR for entry and the CloudGuide audio tour (worth it). Often overshadowed by Sintra's Pena Palace, but I'd argue it's the better day trip. Full practical guide: https://travel.sidewalksafari.com/queluz-palace/

Israel is small. Getting around it is not obvious. 🇮🇱🚌
I just published a full guide. Buses, trains, taxis, the shared taxis that work like nothing else you have ridden, the card you cannot travel without, and the Hebrew words that make all of it easier.
