I wondered why I had met this beautiful common scoter drake on the beach for a few days in a row. Normally they swim in larger groups on the seeside until they migrate back to their breeding grounds. You usually don't get this close to them here: it seems as if he has lost some of his tail feathers. Is that why he is still here and has not flown home?
