Techniques for copying wood engravings, and later engravings on metal, gave rise to an industry in selling printing blocks such as this one of a trapeze artist - a “stock block”.
Papier mâché moulds for metal were followed by electrotyping and finally photographic etching.
Now we have #GIMP 🙂 - scanned at 1400dpi and cleaned
