  1. The #UK #government has signed compact agreements with six northern mayors setting out how Northern #Powerhouse Rail (NPR) will be developed and delivered. The agreements confirm a phased programme building on the #Transpennine Route Upgrade, starting with electrification and station upgrades on key corridors, followed by a new Liverpool–Manchester line and further cross-Pennine connections. Β£1.1bn has been allocated for development in the current Spending Review period, within an overall funding cap of Β£45bn. Most funding will come from central government, with local contributions expected for stations, integration and related development, and optional funding for additional regional priorities. The agreements also establish joint governance, including delivery boards involving ministers and mayors, and confirm continued work on key regional schemes such as major station upgrades and improved cross-regional connectivity.

  2. Somewhere back there is quite a large tree. Didn't derail our train, I don't think, but a train on the other track might not be so lucky.

  3. Dear #TransPennine,

Thanks for cancelling my 0630 train (with a 0615 start) at 2250 this evening, and leaving *almost* no other trains running on that route until 1130.

The one option you have left me with now means I have to leave at 0530 by car, to start my journey at a different station.

I could have planned for this, had I known about it say *two* hours earlier.

  4. CW: The hundreds of cancelled Manchester trains they don't count

More than 1,000 trains have been cancelled or changed overnight by under-fire rail operator TransPennine Express in just over a month - but they won't appear in official performance figures.
