My friend is dropping this on #bandcamp June 28th. For some reason she made the song that I'm on the first track 😨 I was kinda under the impression it'd be the last, lol. Anyway, lots of covers and originals on this. I'm a huge fan of "My Favorite Misery" whose title hearkens to her old band, Gossamer. The album is dedicated to her wife, who passed away a couple of years ago.

Today's #SongOfTheDay is a couple years old now, but We Are The Union is the band that made me fall in love with new music again. Through my 30s and into my 40s I had been listening to most of the same music I was listening to in my 20s and the occasional new album these bands put out. I even stopped listening to music. Ordinary Life was the album that turned that around for me. Here is the title track.

Struggling with all the things, I channeled everything I was feeling into this song and it really really helped me through everything.

Jackie Shane released Any Other Way in 2017, her first appearance in the public eye since declining an offer to join George Clinton's band Funkadelic in late 1971. It was nominated for (but didn't win) the Best Historical Album category in the 2019 Grammys.
Her first album was released in 1962, & she went on to share stages with Little Richard and Etta James.
She is now almost 70 & lives in Nashville.
