I went out for the first time since starting my transition in June. It was for medical labs (one of the few things that is important enough to leave the house for). The labs included an EKG.

I was wearing my zip-front sports bra with breast forms -- the other choice being a camisole which seemed it would be more in the way.

The tech addressed me as "Linda" without stumbling.

When placing the chest electrodes, she said she needed "to unzip [my] brassiere." But she only did enough to relieve the tension, and did not unzio it all the way to where it come open and the cups and my breasts would fall off to the sides.

As she was placing more, she also said the needed to "place some under [my] left breast," lifting it for easy access.

It was far better than I'd feared, and better even hoped. These things made a difference and made for a very affirming experience.

I thanked her for respecting my gender so well as we left.

Just did my weekly groceries and drug store shopping and got a full week's count of stares. I'm not wearing anything particularly fancy, I'm just out there in my daily decent #transfemme fit. Not those brief glances but … incessant #cis-staring.

You get spotted, tracked, their eyes attached to your every movement. It happens in the streets, shopping in the supermarket. Men, women. It's so unpolite, unsettling, annoying. TF mind your own businesses.

At some point I began wearing my varifocals even when my vision of my surroundings was becoming blurred. Their blurriness allowed me to glide through everyday life in a relaxed manner, sucking on a cigarette to calm me down. But it’s summer, too hot for smoking, and my sunglasses aren’t prescription.

I discussed this daily experience many times with allies, gays, #trans siblings. Many tell me to ignore it as much as possible. I can't seem to get used to this. Is it because of my autistic social #hypersensibility?

I often think what PoC's experiences are, how degenerated eurocentric societies and their behaviour is; towards them, towards us queers. About the inevitability of just being and not asking for anyone's attention but nonetheless getting it in any aspect you think of. And I can only guess that height and posture have protected me from physical encounters, so far.

No, this isn't another German Stare rant. I got that while staying in Japan, too. The stares in India were the most intense in duration and relentlessness. I wasn't even visibly queer nor trans back then.

This is about being othered by just being looked at and tracked like you're a fucking freak sensation.

TL;DR: I've had to let my facial hair grow in (bad), but we've started addressing body hair (great)..

Almost two weeks ago, I was in a fit about a low-cut top and my thick chest hair and people coming over (helpers from our church -- they come once a week, bless'em).

Ultimately, I ruined the head on my rotary shaver.

That wasn't the big problem--I asked one of the helpers to bring me a t-shirt.

But now I have a (short) beard again. I've been avoiding looking at it, but also avoiding doing anything to feel femme and pretty because of dissonance.

I'm not hugely distraught about it, but my femininity projects (not my transition) have been on hold.

The new shaver head arrived yesterday. We haven't had a chance to use it yet, because Jalan needs to take the trimmer to my face first.

But

Yesterday when getting ready for my shower, she took the trimmer to my chest hair, then when showering me, used a razor to give a close shave my chest and my pits.

My chest hair has been shaved off once or twice for medical procedures, but my underarms have been full of hair for 40-some years.

It feels amazing. I'm downright giddy!
