Ich lese derzeit "Wer hat Angst vor Gender" von Judith Butler. (im englischen Original)
Das Ende von Kapitel 5 und Kapitel 6 sind für mich die ersten argumentativ wirklich starken. Es ist spannend, dass sich Butler stark bei phänomenologischen Ansätzen bedient wenn they den Widerspruch zur Zurückbesinnung zu "biologischem Geschlecht als unveränderlichem Fakt" (oft im Sinne des "gesunden Menschenverstandes") formuliert.
Die Ansätze (Butler vs. Phänomenologie) wurden m.W.n. häufig (je nach Lesart) im Widerspruch gesehen und/oder das eine in der Notwendigkeit einer Ergänzung durch das andere. Für mich bestätigt they nun etwas die Lesart die ich bisher hatte.
Butler liefert hier eine mögliche Gegenargumentationslinie gegen - vor allem - TERF Ideologie / die "gender critical" Bewegung.
Ein paar mehr Referenzen hätte ich mir gewünscht, da they sich konzeptuell bei einigen Phänomenolog*innen bedient. Da hätte mich interessiert welche Texte besonders von Einfluss waren.
Die ersten Kapitel des Buchs fand ich einen guten Überblick über die weltweite anti-gender und anti-trans Bewegung - für mich war da aber noch wenig neues dabei und mir fehlte etwas die argumentative Stärke für their "Gender als Schreckgespenst" Postulat - abgesehen von der scheinbar selbst-evidenten Absurdität vieler Positionen, wie beispielsweise der Vergleich von Gender-Theorie und Massenvernichtungswaffen durch den Papst.
Ich bin allerdings auch tief im Thema und Quereinsteiger*innen werden in den Kapiteln sicher Hintergründe finden bei denen ihnen "die Ohren schlackern".
Insofern wird ein notwendiger zeitgeschichtlicher und aktueller politischer Hintergrund geliefert der zum Verständnis aktueller Debatten notwendig ist. Auch ihre Aussagen zu anti-gender Bewegungen als faschistoiden Strömungen werden in Kontext gesetzt.
Jetzt muss ich ein paar meiner eigenen Essay-Ideen nicht mehr schreiben weil Butler die Verknüpfungen schon gemacht hat ... aber eigentlich finde ich das super - denn their Buch ist eines der wenigen deutschsprachig verfügbaren Werke, die diesen Bereich beleuchten. Zudem ist es deutlich leichter zu lesen als deren frühere Texte.
Jetzt bin ich mal gespannt was noch kommt.

Today, I'm chewing on Kate Manne's theory of misogyny as a social force for policing the roles of "human giver" and "human being" in what it has to say about the shapes of transmisogyny. I'm not sure if others have developed it in this way, but here's the thoughts it spurred in me.
It's especially this summary of Manne's framework in Nagoski & Nagoski's "Burnout" that got me thinking:
"Kate Manne describes a system in which one class of people, the “human givers,” are expected to offer their time, attention, affection, and bodies willingly, placidly, to the other class of people, the “human beings.” The implication in these terms is that human beings have a moral obligation to be or express their humanity, while human givers have a moral obligation to give their humanity to the human beings." (Nagoski & Nagoski, p. 8)
Of course, cis women are expected to be and socialized into the role of "human giver" while cis men are expected to be and socialized into the role of "human being," and if a woman should choose to act as a human being, rather than solely a giver, she is then punished - this is how the system of misogyny is enforced.

Sex and gender are constructs of the Patriarchy. The patriarchy only recognizes two binary genders, which are based on one of two binary sexes that someone is assigned at birth. You are either assigned male and a man, or you are assigned female and a woman. Those are your only choices under the patriarchy.
Cis men are at the top, and cis women are below the cis men. But BOTH of those groups are above anyone who doesn't conform to the system. And, if we want to be specific, it's white cis men and white cis women.
Trans people, however, do not conform to the system. Therefore, we are all oppressed by it. We cannot be privileged by it, nor can we benefit from it. This is also why trans men do not fit into the patriarchal social class of "men": that class only contains cis men. Therefore, we do not benefit from any privileges assigned to cis men under the patriarchy. Because we're not cis men. And the only "man" the patriarchy recognizes are cis men.

What a summer it was. I'm 25 weeks on E, I've studied like crazy (and I keep doing it, especially #JuliaSerano), I've had my first true experience with #TransMisogyny when I was forced to flee the apartment in which I had been living for a year and a half because my ex flatmate was abusive and the landlord didn't care, I started a #queer collective and I left it a few days ago because the rest of the members did not care (and at one point someone wanted to admit a cis straight man eww), I started psychotherapy...and a lot more than I can remember now. I never got bored in my life but dammit it was the longest journey so far and, honestly? I can't wait to see what's coming next.
