Volgstadt is the largest city in Old Volgvarra, situated on the rivers Edda and the Volge; the people who founded the city came from our world, originally, and settling here only when they realized there was no way home. The river Volga is so named because they did not realize for many years that it was not the famed river they were looking for.
Politics in Volgstadt are dominated by powerful labor unions, collectively known as bluecoats, a paramilitary style city watch (greycoats), fading aristocratic families who worship the stars (asterites), and bourgeois merchant guilds who control trade throughout the region with an iron grip.

Mutual Aid as Collapse Infrastructure**This isn’t about saving the world. It’s too late for that. It’s about making sure something usable survives the burn around you and your community.**
Collapse doesn’t announce itself with fireworks. It shows up as peeling paint, missed deliveries, and a flickering municipal website. The termites eat the floorboards while everyone debates curtain colors. Most people won’t notice until the ceiling drips, the lights stutter, and the pharmacy shelves stay empty too long. Then one morning, the floor gives out.
Mutual aid networks, structured horizontally and rooted locally, aren’t just acts of compassion. They function as infrastructure for continuity through collapse. While governments fail, markets fragment, and institutions hollow out, these networks maintain the basic patterns of care and connection that humans require for survival.
We’re building what comes next, not stockpiling against the apocalypse.

Had to have. First, I came from a highly literate family. Words were very important. I would have lengthy talks with my mother about the finer means of words and we loved looking things up in the Partridge Entomological dictionary.
Second, my experience as a trans person growing up in a hostile world had colored my vision of the world. My characters reflect this, none of them reach adulthood without scars. They are not ashamed of who they are, but they paid a price. #Trans #Transgender #TransAuthor #transauthors
I am sure in many other ways as well. But those are the first two that come to mind.
