Fancying Austrian cuisine, in a Swiss restaurant? Try the #SBB🇨🇭#DiningCar on #EuroCity #Transalpin, a train linking these two countries. The diner is the type of car you will otherwise find on many Swiss InterCity trains, yet the menu and staff are Austrian, the same as on #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #Railjet trains.

Going through the photos taken yesterday while travelling on #EuroCity #164 #Transalpin. The long consist was first hauled by one #ÖBB 🇦🇹 Class 1016/1116 #Taurus electric, then by two of them for the steep gradients on the #Arlberg line. Finally an #SBB🇨🇭#Re460 brought us, on time, into #Zurich HB.

The last run of the rake currently used on #EuroCity #163 #Transalpin. For the last time, it's a mixed consist of ÖBB 🇦🇹 and SBB🇨🇭cars. It includes the last #ÖBB full 40-seat #DiningCar where I enjoy breakfast. From tomorrow's timetable change on, the consist will essentially be composed of #SBB cars.

Going through the photos taken yesterday on board the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #Transalpin to #Graz. Because of track works further north, the train is diverted via #Villach, an occasion to enjoy some “faux cab-ride” views from the last car of the consist, as we travel along the scenic #Tauernbahn line.

Concluding today’s long voyage with dinner in the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #Transalpin @diningcar between #Buchs🇨🇭& #Zurich, one of the few remaining “full diners” of ÖBB. They’ve got the new, wintery, menu: I opted for a nice “Schweinsbraten Tullnerfeld” (pork roast, whatever the meaning behind Tullnerfeld) and an organic beer.🍺

Mit dem heutigen Tag beginnt ein fast zweimonatiges Umleitungsprogramm für den EC 163/164 #Transalpin zwischen #Zürich HB 🇨🇭 und #Graz Hbf 🇦🇹.

In den nächsten 50 Tagen verkehrt das Zugpaar an keinem einzigen Tag ohne Abweichung von der Stammroute und das in verschiedenen Variationen. Somit ergeben sich neue Ausblicke für den SBB #Panoramawagen. Ein 🧵 (1/5)
