Neat seeing David Hobbs hang out for a while during the Indycar Warmup this morning. Hobbs of course was THE voice of Formula One here in America when I was growing up, and also did a number of Speed Channel broadcasts and I grew up watching a lot of old Daytona 500s he'd worked on too. Glad to see my man is still pretty sharp at 87 years old, a legend.

There's always some drivers I know from various #NASCAR series whenever I watch #TransAm #TA2 races like this one at Sonoma from the weekend I have on. The cars they race are functionally almost the same as stock car late models and built by some of the same companies that do a lot of the nation's late models, so the series is really good training for young drivers who want to learn how to road race in a stock car prior to moving into the top 3 series in NASCAR.

Qualifié de #PostRock, le groupe est surtout une expérimentation #ElectroRock, où les riffs de guitare se partagent la vedette avec une batterie déchainée, une basse implacable, des sons synthétiques venus du futur, entre calme et déchainement. Bref, un truc pour moi inclassable, mais un groupe essentiel à mon avis. Découvert grâce au label manager Mute Records France, j'ai dévoré ce disque pendant des mois. En concert, ça chauffait bien, et un paquet de leur disques sont impeccables (Trans Am, Liberation, Red Line). Jetez une oreille aux titres Orlando, American Kooter.

That's something I don't do every Friday night:
An old friend bought, restored, and customised a 1983 #Pontiac #TransAm as a replica of #KITT from #KnightRider. (The dashboard and accessories are functional, though I didn't ask for a demo of the liquid hydrogen afterburners, parachute ejectors, etc., so can't promise about those.) He shipped it across the Pacific and followed by plane, and dropped by to visit today. Here's the custom car in my driveway before a trip up the canyons.
