Oh, yeah! Perifractic and some other people literally bought the Commodore company and all of the rights from the Dutch (IIRC) company that was holding it.
I think they might not have all of the rights to the #Amiga IP yet, but they've got all of the 8-bit stuff, AFAIK.
Disclaimer: this is an independent kickstarter, and I have no way of guaranteeing that it's not a scam, etc. But the people involved seem solid, including Jack #Tramiel's son, Leonard.

Don't get me wrong, #Tramiel was a hero, but some of his cost-cutting things were nuts. Like having no graphics/sound commands in BASIC until the C128 (post-Jack) because they had a one-time license to MS BASIC (as long as they didn't change anything)
P.S. I might have the timeline wrong. I think the C128 was actually introduced during his tenure. It was the Plus4 that came out just as he left.
