First longer interval run of the current season. With nice switches between ups and downs, walking and running with and without poles to maintain the targeted HF.
Over all 15km, 1km warmup, followed by 4 times 1km HF 2 and 2km high HF3 / low HF4, finished by 2km cool down.

After having been slightly sick the last week, I finally regained enough strength for a longer run. Slow but steady. Mostly on gravel with some fun single trail parts.

Due to really bad muscular tensions in my whole back I was not able to do any sports yesterday. This morning the tension in the lower back was gone, so I hoped for further improvement doing a slow run. And indeed it feels slightly better. Now it's just my right back.

I still have tired legs. So I skipped yesterday and decided just to do a relaxed slow run today.

Motivated myself to run despite of my tired legs. And as expected or at least hoped for, the legs are less tired than before.
Time for rewarding myself.7.15km, 7:56/km, 270m elevation gain

Planned a low intensity run for today. However after 15min my legs signaled that they aren't eager to do what I have planned. So I took a shortcut, discussed for the next 5min with my self and decided to further shorten the run, to skip the fun muddy part altogether as well as to run with the lowest intensity possible back home.
Not as planned, but non the less glad I did run.

Today a slow run. It was very wet, very muddy and very slippery. So I needed to do slow mini steps on the downhill parts and slid more than 30cm sometimes. It would have been scary on unknown trails, but so it was fun.

Trailrun part 2. Back home.
5.6 km, 6:34/km pace, 110m ascent. Two lovebird owls gave me a short adrenaline kick and vice versa I think, when they suddenly started from a wooden sign two meters in front of me. Sneaky birds vs. sneaky runner, I guess. 😅

Trailrun part 1. From my home to the pool at the next village to give a training lesson. after that a slow run back home.

Last week meant survival mode. Attending the #WG21 meeting in Kona, Hawaii *virtually* meant Zoom sessions from 19:00–04:00. With family in the house, some of them sick, my priority was 1. not getting sick 2. getting the work done. So no 🏊🚴🏃 last week.

My Sunday run had a little white surprise on the top of the local hill.
The thawing snow dripped down from the branches like huge raindrops. Just great. Feeling alive.18.5km, 7:00/km, 480m EG

Sunday trailrun. I climbed three of the local hills. My legs are really tired now 😅

Glad I convinced myself to go for a run.
I enjoyed a lonesome run and returned just after dawn.16km, 7:35/km, 455m EG

Nice views whilst running as we had a slight snow Intermezzo at the local hills above 550m.

First trailrun with poles this year. Quite slow and short but I just had too many infections the past 8 weeks for proper training.
The weather conditions were great, just warm enough for running in shorts, so the cap and sleeves stuffed in my backpack wouldn't have been necessary.11.8km, 8:00/km, 370m EG

I was quite surprised by the icy trails on my first short trailrun after having been sick.

I finally managed to motivate myself for a trailrun this morning after a four week break.

My plans for an easy GRC Short Race fell with the elevation profile - the high Wattbike gearing does not take hills easy!

Racing when unwell never ends well, having missed last week I felt I needed to race in the 2nd race of round 2 of the ZRL. The contrast between power and heart rate zones in this graphic shows that I was in all sorts of trouble. Held on to 48th and a few points, but regretting it now.

I raced in TTT tonight with Team CLS Sparks, running out of gas doing the 2 minute big pulls on the front requested 🤢.

I think I am already fully recovered 👍
Speedy Sunday trailrun in high HF2, low HF3. Nice thing was I had no issues running up the uphill parts whilst maintaining the targeted HF.13.2km, 6:03/km, 375m EG

Today's trailrun/speedhike started in Stalden (SZ). The first km flat followed by a steep ascend on a very rough gravel road before the road ended in and even steeper trail. Good use for the poles. The final climb up to the summit of Diethelm is marked blie-white and secured with chain. On my way down to Wägitalersee the fog slowly disappeared.
Todays ups: Nice clouds crawling up, downs: most of the time foggy.

A short run after more than 4h in a car is refreshing. I treated the hornet with due respect as I stretched after my run.

Nice lights in the woods this morning. Thin clouds crawling up the hills and the sun shining through made marvelous views.

Due to the forecasted thunderstorms I moved my trailrun/speed hike further north. I started in Lichtensteig, climbed two rather steep hills and finished in Degersheim. Not as good views as I had hoped for as high trees blocked most of the time the scenery. It was quite steamy, I was bitten by a horse fly and a tick. Nothing the less a nice run.

We had a nice morning run in and above the 'Töss' valley. We started in Bauma, run up to Sternenberg, small trails back down to Tüfenbach, followed by a steep ascent up to the summit of Hörnli. There we took our time for a short break with 'Nussgipfeli and suure Most ohni' ( Croissant with hazelnut cream and alcohol free cider) and time to enjoy the views. Finally the very fun part of running down the very steep trail to Steg.
Along our trail we discovered some very nice places and even had the pleasure of taking a short but very refreshing shower.15.2km, 8:44/km, 816m EG

My wife and I had planned for a hike today, but she canceled. So I hastily replanned for a trail run / speed hike and took the train to Nesslau. The first kilometers up went well, but the heat and the humidity kicked in quite harsh. I was forced to slow down, slow down more and even more. Despite refilling water twice I was shot out just at the second summit. Lucky me I found a fountain three kilometers later.
Lots of sweat, lots of hiking, more breaks than usual and a slow run back to the valley.15.5km, 12:48/km, 1351m EG

A little convalescence run after being slightly sick for 8 days. Slight rain. And the downhill part was a little bit too slippery for me today.
