I'm sorry. That's f**ing stupid and it certainly isn't Lovecraft. A Lovecraft character has his sanity blasted beyond recovery when he encounters the mythos. It sure as hell doesn't turn him into The Buddha of Innsmouth.

It's not going to happen, but I would _love_ for the new edition of #DarkSun to present multiple, conflicting explanations for details of the cataclysm that formed it.
I saw this as a WoD fan who adores detailed lore, but both #TrailOfCthulhu and #VampireTheRequiem changed my relationship with "deep lore" to something more fluid where "How does this impact the table?" is the most important question. Normalize changing the lore from table to table and game to game, based on what works best.

I can't emphasize enough how much I love the #TrailOfCthulhu core book presenting multiple different, conflicting, & plausaible "truths" about what or who the familiar Old Gods are just to give some actual mystery to them.
So many games (and so much media in general) like to talk about how no one knows the truth & everyone is only working with half the puzzle at best, but only ever present one objective truth.
The #WorldOfDarkness (& everything it influenced) are particularly prone to that.

#BundleOfHolding launched a big #TrailOfCthulhu deal with the core book and a whole slew of advetnures.
This is my second favorite iteration of the classic Cthulhu investigation kind of RPG, behind #DeltaGreen, and Trail really popularized the "you don't roll just to find clues, you get those by showing up - you roll to get bonus information" approach to mysteries and the core book has great advice on how to adapt/twist mythos "truths" to keep things fresh.

In Trail of Cthulhu, survival is not the only objective. Tactical Goals looks at what characters are trying to achieve inside each scene, position, leverage, knowledge, escape. Clear goals make horror sharper and choices matter more.
