So, people can bash on #TrailerParkBoys, but lets be real here.
Ricky is an idiot. That's it. He loves his family, his community, and animals. And, he treats his family pretty well, all things considered.
Lahey is a drunk, but he really wants what is best for his community, but needs to read "Kill The Cop In Your Head".
Bubbles is an all around sweetheart, and a huge animal lover.
Julian is always looking out for the trailer park, and his friends. Every. Single. Time.
The show itself is one of the earliest depictions of a trans woman, and she never gets shit for it, and people around her are pretty much in the know about her transition, before she even knows, I think. And Donna is portrayed as a powerful woman in the trailer park.
In fact, all women portrayed are never done so from a position of weakness. Sarah and Lucy... Fuck those two women ran the park, at various stages, and were successful business people. And they generally never lost their femininity, and wore it proudly.
Randers and Lahey are both queer, likely Randers being gay, and his relationships with Lahey and Donna were pretty good depictions of how someone can begin to realize their sexuality, in an environment that is accepting.
It was also one of the first portrayals of furries, in media, and done wholly non-judgmentally.
All in all, it's a raw show, depicting some of the struggles of people living in poverty, and overall, quite inclusive of a show.
If you disagree, I'm interested in hearing your view of the show, really.
