  1. Carrot paint applied and homemade trailer hitch installed. I even found a cap for the ball in my collection of old farm junk.

This Rilak alkyd enamel paint is pretty decent, although better sprayed than brushed. But even in summer weather it takes days to dry and weeks to fully cure through.

  3. Test drive successful, apart from a potato crate falling off the trailer and getting crushed while I was enthusiastically zooming around the yard with a huge trailer behind the little mownster 😖

Put some rust converting primer on over night and then it shall get orange paint so I can see it and because there's some left from the pallet fork project.

  5. Almost ready for testing. The critical part was a method of quickly attaching and removing the hitch.

I've changed from my original idea with the hooks a bit and made two welded bolt adapters that remain on the frame. The rod at the top gets seated in the grass collector bag arms, then is swung down for the tangs on the frame to meet the bolt adapters and secured with two wingnuts.

It's quite sturdy, I've stood on it to test 😁

As usual, all made from scrap metal found around the farm.

  7. Silly little details that take forever, but then who wants to leave the ends open for grass and dirt to get in.

  9. #SidequestSunday! Making a trailer hitch for the lawnmownster.

You can buy those, but they are made of cheese and have some weird hitch that only fits the matching cheese trailer and none of mine.

Getting to play with the new cold cut chop saw. It really doesn't like long flat cuts and you can't clamp the piece rotated when cutting mitres. The solution is to clamp it with a spacer so the workpiece ends up further out on the curved part of the blade.
