This is the cover art I ended up drawing for the optional "bonus booklet," accompanying The Harbinger's Path Trahearne & Malyck fan comic!

Decided to post it now since photos showing this cover have been posted a few times :D (I love seeing those photos :'D ) Hopefully it's not too much of a surprise by now!

I saw fan speculation earlier about how the gw2 (?) teaser from today might be a cleansed Orr! :O Which reminded me of this older art I was inspired to paint shortly after finishing the Knight of the Thorn questline.

It involves one of my headcanons where Trahearne brings Malyck to a cleansed Orr, after the Firstborn cleanses Malyck from Mordremoth's corruption (this headcanon takes place after Heart of Thorns).

2D Animation Practice: "Mordrem Lieutenant Malyck and Corrupted Trahearne"

Spent a few hours last night seeing how much I could add to this practice animation by today! When I opened the file, it was slightly further than the initial draft for the keyframes (posted WIP process gifs on my sketchblog here: https://landylachs.com/sketchblog/2026/02/trahearne-malyck-practice-animation-february-14-2026/ )

Yesterday I drew out the partially-drawn in-between "breakdown" frames from the sketch, cleaned up the lines, and added color.

Something about animating really alights a part of my mind that becomes endlessly delighted. If I had no responsibilities or physical limitations, I fear I'd become very obsessed.

It makes me want to draw until my arm falls off!

Anyway, happy Valentine's!

"Malyck's First Halloween"

In one of my headcanons, Trahearne is cleansed from Mordremoth, as is a once-corrupted Malyck. They return to core Tyria triumphantly after Mordremoth's defeat, and live out their lives peacefully. At least, until the next Elder Dragon conflict.

I like to imagine Trahearne introducing Malyck to the pleasantries of various festivities around Tyria - and perhaps playing a prank or two on him along the way.

Happy Halloween! :D
