23/n Train manager just played the sound of a crying baby over the intercom, so I guess everyone who had dozed off, is now officially awake. Including TicTac woman. At least people who had to get off at Mönchengladbach will not miss their stop, I guess.
DB app is now telling me that I will miss my connection in Utrecht. ETA 01:07 it is, I guess 😓

17/n BREAKING: my ticket was checked! 5 trains and 9.5 hours into my journey, my ticket was finally checked!
In the mean time I moved to a more quiet seat.
Woman next to me is eating TicTacs as if she's either meeting the Pope later tonight, or has a couple of low-budget geocaches that need maintenance.
Woman in front of us just started a loud phone call, and by the sound of it, is breaking up with her partner over having to carry his suitcase on the train. Not sure why he isn't with the suitcase right now.

16/n Made it on the train from Frankfurt Flughafen to Utrecht. Seated next to someone who is also travelling to Leiden, but who hasn't been through all the delays I've been through today. Lucky them.
Getting on the train was quite stressful, as one of the first passengers to get in was a man with a suitcase, who then also grabbed his wife's suitcase, then blocked the path for everyone by putting both suitcases in the path and walking away looking for his seat. I was directly behind him, and got yelled at *a lot* by the other passengers, telling me to move those two suitcases (while carrying all my own stuff), so they could get on the train. Seems unfair to me.
In theory I am in a quiet zone, but Loud Man is being Loud behind me, and judging by the reservation information at his seat, he will be behind me for a while, unless I manage to move. Train is pretty much fully booked, tho, so maybe no such luck. One can only hope he passes out.

14/n Update from Stuttgart:
Since my train was cancelled, I could not catch my 16:26 train from Stuttgart to Utrecht. Instead, I am now on the 18:26 train from Stuttgart to Frankfurt Flughafen, where I will have 8 minutes to transfer to a train to Utrecht.
I would've loved to do another #LatourDetour, but it was snowing and I was massively overdue a painkiller, so I just found a geocache, ran an errand, and then tried to get a deca soy Milchkaffee at a bakery. Unfortunately, the coffee machine broke as they were making my coffee, so I got a tea and a spelt Quarkbällchen, because I've had a recipe for Quarkbällchen for ages and never made it, and it looked close to the oliebollen that I missed this NYE, so I figured it would be a good snack. It was okay.
Now I'm on a train, sadly not in the Quiet Zone because that was so full that I didn't have any hope for it to be quiet. Instead, I'm surrounded by other non-quiet people who are probably equally annoying, but at least not in the quiet zone. Only 1h12m to go, so I'll try to listen to some music to drown them out, starting with Earl Bostic's Blip Boogie. Much coughing and sneezing around me 😭 Waiting for painkiller to kick in.

My train from Zürich to Stuttgart was cancelled, as I found out while I was on it. Turns out I was on a replacement train that would only get me to Schaffhausen. Train manager told us to get a train to Singen from Schaffhausen, and from there figure out how to get to Stuttgart. I figured out that likely the best way to do that, was to just get on the next train from Zürich to Stuttgart, that stopped in Schaffhausen.
I therefore decided to take it easy and do some sightseeing/geocaching in Schaffhausen, then catch the next train. That train was delayed by 14 minutes, but I got on it and found a window seat. Comfortable enough, even though the WiFi didn't work for the first hour. I managed to use the bathroom before the train arrived in Singen, and all my fellow passengers from the replacement train from Zürich to Schaffhausen got on, because they apparently had taken the local train from Singen to Schaffhausen, and then couldn't all find a seat on this train. Moral of the story: don't always listen to the train manager.
Anyway: it turns out that my idea of "taking int easy" was to drag all of my luggage up the ice-covered stairs to see the Munot of Schaffhausen. Here are the pics. You're welcome.

7/n We made it to Arth-Goldau. I'm feeling a bit peckish, so decided to open up the mini panetone I bought on a discount at Esselunga. I normally don't approve of eating on a train. Everybody who does so, always seems to be eating smoked salmon or salami or, in extreme cases, smacking themselves through a full kilogram of Greek yoghurt (hashtag never forget). However, since I'm the only one and panetone should smell and sound relatively inoffensive, I chose to go for a #ChooChooChew and have a snack.
Also: @ScubaET suggested #TrackingAnna, which I like, too! Maybe #AnnaOnTrack would work also? Except that travelling with Deutsche Bahn, it would be rarely accurate?
