I prefer this app over DDG's built-in protection as you can control which apps & services to block & uses less system resources (RAM & battery use) in the process. This even let's you block & control googles system services when set up to do so.

@lo69 Je suis sur e/OS/ aussi. J'ai installé #TrackerControl en complément.
Évidemment les filtres de e/OS/ sont mieux que rien, c'est assez efficace, mais 1) ils sont timides car ils ne veulent pas dégrader l'expérience utilisateur et 2) il y a d'autres moyen de se faire traquer (empreintes de navigateur, cookies, etc.).
D'ailleurs #TrackerControl n'est pas la solution miracle non plus.

Mais quand même #e/os/ c'est vraiment bien. On se sent quand même l'esprit plus tranquille.

In order to watch the Super Bowl, as well as get access to the Jurassic World movies to satisfy my kiddo's current obsession with all things dinosaur, I did a month's subscription to Peacock. In installing the Peacock app onto my Android phone running a "degoogled" crDrojd rom, TrackerControl detected a hilarious level of 10 embedded known trackers. Without the protection of a blocker like TrackerControl, this supposed streaming service is also a data mining extravaganza, sending tons of info back to all kinds of 3rd parties.

Im Großen und Ganzen ja. Sieht für mich so aus, als würde #TrackerControl nur ein komplettes Ein/Aus pro App verwalten. Also ohne detaillierte Konfiguration...

#NewPipe greift auf #YouTube zu... daher braucht es den Zugriff, wenn es funktionieren soll... ;-)

#TrackerControl scheint mir vergleichbar wie #RethinkDNS oder #NetGuard zu arbeiten.

Da vermute ich, #TrackerControl blockiert sämtliche #YouTube-URLs. Dies betrifft dann natürlich auch Apps wie #NewPipe.

Hast Du in #TrackerControl die Möglichkeit, die Blockierungen für einzelne Apps zu konfigurieren? Kannst Du #NewPipe in #TrackerControl von der #YouTube-Blockade ausnehmen?

I'm using the default contacts app from Google/FairphoneOS, but the #TrackerControl app blocks it from accessing the internet. Also, I'm never logged in to Google.

Syncing is done with Davx5.

Was nutzt ihr denn auf Android, um Tracker zu blockieren? Also für alle Apps, nicht nur im Browser, z.b über eine lokale VPN. Als ich noch bei Android war habe ich die DuckDuckGo App genutzt, und gerade beim Suchen https://trackercontrol.org/ gefunden, kennt ihr die und taugen die was?

What do you use on Android to block trackers? For all apps, not just in the browser, e.g. via a local VPN. When I was still on Android I used the DuckDuckGo app, and just found https://trackercontrol.org/ while searching, do you know them and are they good?

@Kurt I've done that now. Deleted/disabled all the Samsung and Google (I didn't know about adb uninstall). Installed #trackercontrol to block what I couldn't remove (h/t @mdione). Added F-Droid (Aurora store is also new to me) for VLC, GCompris, OSMAnd. I got APKs for Scratch, Scratch Jr and Audible (with Internet blocked except for when adding books).

Performance seems fine. I'd have liked the purity of LineageOS but this will do.

It appears that mastodon.social and concert.io are depending upon fastly.net for CDN services and hence there is an overlap of IP address which #TrackerControl identifies as an outgoing request to the Advertising portal concert.io.

Apologies for the trouble @Gargron. I will take this as an issue with #TrackerControl to see what can be done.

Since last night (IST), I wasn't able to access my account in mastodon.social. I tried with multiple apps and even opening mastodon.social in web browser timed out. I then checked status.mastodon.social which shows all green.

For a moment I suspected my ISP would be the culprit, but other devices in my network loads the site fine & then I took a look at #TrackerControl which showed cdn.concert.io was blocked. This domain seems to be a new addition to the site. @Gargron care to explain? Ads?

@Khrys aller, je te (re)commente pour ajouter l'excellent Aurora. Une surcouche au store de Gogole qui permet de gérer les install et mises à jours de façon anonyme (donc moins de #profiling ). #aurora embarque pour chaque applis le score #exodus.
Vous couplez ça avec l'appli #trackercontrol et vous avez un android moins espion ... le mieux étant carrément d'installer sur son phone un #eos car ce dernier embarque tout ça nativement 😉

@pjf, you could in any case consider using #trackercontrol. It will certainly be another app running, but it will help you to mitigate more escape attempts of chatty software.
