#hacking an old mouse into a #trackball because why not. Already removed the wheel and switches. Will replace them with keyboard switches and mount them off to the side somewhere. Need to figure out a home for the scroll wheel too. Might try and convert it into a horizontal dial instead. Also hacked off the usb port and replaced it with female usb-c. #trackballs

Yeah, I didn't think the bearing upgrade would be so dramatic. I was afraid I'd ruin my trackball cause it's such an itty bitty part. Yeah... when I have to replace this trackball, I am absolutely ordering ceramic bearings at the same time. This is WAY WAY better than the glass bearings ever were, even when new.

Not gonna lie, I've always had the impression, finger #trackballs are superior to thumb trackballs. Changed my mind when I received the #Elecom Ex-G Pro and now got my hands (or rather my thumb) on a #Logitech MX Ergo. This thing is super comfortable!

Any suggestions for a place to buy 34mm ball for #trackball (preferably black) with international shipping that wouldn't cost more than the ball itself?

Speaking of #trackballs:
my beloved MX Ergo is starting to have it problems, plus using just the thumb is not so great sometimes.
I'm looking at the Kensington ones: would it make sense to wait for the Slimblade Pro to be available again, or the old Expert model is better as some reviews say?

This isn't a place I normally shill, but in this case I'll make an exception: #Ploopy has some #lefthanded Classic #Trackballs in stock. www.ploopy.co for store page.

As a left-handed person (though I'm a righty mouse user) I feel strongly that this product ought to exist. But the truth is, they're a pain in the ass to make in small quantities, and thus often out of stock. I'm sorry about that (but not sorry enough to make more, so if you want one, you should get one now. :P)

The little pins that hold the ball in a trackball, are these washable ? Or should I leave them ? Is that teflon maybe?

So far the Deft Pro is the coolest one I've tried. #Trackballs It is smaller than the Huge by quite a lot and kind of fits my hand better. But it's gonna take some time to break in.

Currently testing the Elecom Huge after years with the MX Ergo ... first impressions:
– this fingerwheel feels not bad but actually much less precise. i am aware of the bearing issue... currently works best with three fingers lol
– signal currently is much better than with the logi - no dropout, sender on computer under my desk
– the form / handsupport is kinda terrible in comparison to the logi
– scrollwheel is ...ok

i feel more under control with the logi for now

Hello @solene, I spotted #OpenBSD doesn’t have a #trackballs port, which is a marble madness clone. https://slackbuilds.org has a slackware port which you can use as a reference. Good luck with it :)

In Trackballs you guide a marble around a land of sloped tiles. Several types of tiles exist, including sand which slows movement and ice which reduces traction. Multiple hazards exist as well, like moving marbles which hunt you down and cacti placed in particularly annoying places.
