Our #SongOfTheDay is some early electronic music from '70s Romania by Rodion G.A., a project of Rodion Roşca. The only label in Romania at the time didn't distribute their recordings, but thankfully we can hear them now. Enjoy the downright anthemic "Contrast".

Our #SongoftheDay is the Rio based artist Ana Frango Elétrico's "Saudade". Yeah it starts a bit like Erik Satie, but we promise you, it grows and grows into an utterly charming piece. Brilliant stuff.

Wendy Eisenberg's versatility and deftness for captivating melodies are on display in "Meaning Business", although the flexibility in the arrangement also steals the show a bit for us. Enjoy our #SongoftheDay.

How about some Sunday chill? Our #SongOfTheDay, "Aquarium Trousers" by digi-dub artist Tapes (aka Jack Bailey), provides that with floaty, groovy synths.

Indie band church crush takes an artsy, adventurous route in their angsty alt-rock on their debut EP "glyph" that immediately grabbed our attention a couple of months ago. Our #SongoftheDay is "farm*".

Our #SongoftheDay is a slow burner by Gnod, a band that's been a master of the genre. "Shadow Mirror" is dark and brooding. It's also hypnotic in the way it builds and shifts ever so slightly as it drifts in place.

Our #SongOfTheDay, "Embers", finds Navy Blue (Brooklyn's Sage Elsesser) not rapping, really. Rather more speak-singing over Budgie's positive vibe beat and the silky background vocals of Liv.e and Venna.

Our #SongoftheDay is a gentle piece of soul by Curtis Harding that feels both retro and neo at the same time, "Out in the Black". He gets a little introspective while riding a wonderfully mellow groove.

It might take a few seconds to adjust to the speed at which the guitar, bass and percussion are coming at you in our #SongOfTheDay, "Ciutat", by Mallorquin guitarist/singer/composer Joan Bibilon.

Our #SongoftheDay is "Life Remains", one of the many gems you can find in Montreal-based singer-songwriter Dominique Fils-Aimé's terrific recent album "My World is the Sun". It's an immersive, beautiful piece.

Our #SongOfTheDay comes from composer/cellist Arthur Russell's disco project Dinosaur L, whose '81 album "24→24" left quite a mark on the NYC club scene. Its '07 reissue included this Francois K mix of "Go Bang!" and it's a lot of fun.

We celebrate this fine May Day in this terminally messed up world of ours with a song by an artist who felt it in his bones and paid a big price for it. Our #SongoftheDay is "El Arado" by the incomparable Victor Jara.

Our #SongOfTheDay is "No harm" by Norwegian electronic duo Smerz. The cool nonchalance of the vocals and textural complexity make it pretty irresistible. That nasty kick doesn't hurt either.

Australian band Glass Beams brings Indian and other Asian musical styles into their deep, laid-back grooves, which results in a captivating sound. Our #SongoftheDay is "Mahal".

Masked Egyptian pop singer and rapper TUL8TE recently released a live-recorded, Latin jazz version of his hit album Narein and it kinda slaps. "Heseeny" from that album is our #SongOfTheDay.

Gentle boxer is indie folk artist Allegra Krieger going experimental (and instrumental) on us, which is another thing we didn't have on our 2026 bingo card. "Dignified, I lie down in the street" is our #SongoftheDay.

How about some woozy, wobbly, trippy pop this Sunday? Our #SongOfTheDay, "TTYL" by Swedish duo Morabeza Tobacco, provides just that along with a funky bass line.

Our #SongoftheDay is "Rewind" by Dijon. It may not be the most obvious song to pick from his recent album, but we love his slow-burning intensity. Caution: an abrupt ending ahead (which kinda adds to the song).

Judging from the early song releases, Ecca Vandal's long awaited second album (next month?) is going to be a banger. Our #SongoftheDay is "THEN THERE'S ONE". It's a short one, but it's quirky and catchy with a great riff.

Our #SongOfTheDay is "Theatre of Nature" by Anna von Hausswolff. In contrast to her recent (very successful) ventures into pop, this is an example of her earlier gothic ambient/neo-classical work done on pipe organ. Otherworldly stuff.
Yes, we know we already posted a SOTD, but it was a duplicate of a SOTD in Jan.

Anna von Hauswolff is a Swedish artist with a fascinating body of work built around gothic sounds. Our #SongoftheDay is "Stardust" off of her 2025 album "Iconoclasts". A great beat matched by her howling vocals.

Gong. Gong? Yep. The legendary band of the '60s Canterbury scene is still kicking around, still in the same fusion/psychedelic sandbox, though with a different line-up. "Mantivule" is our #SongoftheDay.

Our #SongoftheDay moves at the classic unhurried Low pace., inviting the audience to let the song come to them. "Congregation" (from "Ones and Sixes") is a gorgeous one, and Mimi Parker's voice is a treasure on its own.

Kennyhoopla is an artist who never quite settles into a sound, or when he does, you know it's time for him to move on. "charity//" is from his more recent, somewhat dance oriented EP and it's our #SongoftheDay.

Federale creates cinematic albums that play like soundtracks for western movies never made, expanding on that glorious Ennio Morricone sound. You can almost feel the heat and the sand with "Hero", our #SongoftheDay.

Our #SongoftheDay is "I Come With Mud", the opening track of Men I Trust's latest album, stacked with gentle, misty songs that put us in a contemplative mood from the first note. The whole album is worth a spin or two.

Call us slow, but for some reason Julia Jacklin's "Lydia Wears A Cross" had to grow on us ... who knows why? No matter. Now that we're grooving to it, it's our #sotd.
