Yesterday I had the great pleasure to attend a documentary screening and panel session where Prof. #FredericoFaggin was the guest of honour. This was organised by the #Italian Luxembourg Chamber of Commmerce and introduced by the Italian Ambassador to #Luxembourg. #Faggin invented the #microprocessor and designed the #4004 #8008 #8080 #z80 and later on via #synaptics #touchscreens and #touchpads .He is a true #pioneer

I genuinely can’t properly express how much I hate #touchscreens in #cars.
If your car doesn’t have physical buttons and knobs for every function (and also doesn’t have #CarPlay), I’m not even going to consider it the next time that I have to buy a new one.
This is a hill that I will die on, and not because I had to take my eyes off of the road to adjust the rear defrost and swerved into a knoll. -

I've installed the old #Oxygen style on #bazzite via rpm-ostree:
rpm-ostree install oxygen-cursor-themes oxygen-sounds plasma-oxygen-qt5 plasma-oxygen-qt6 oxygen-fonts oxygen-icon-theme oxygen-mono-fonts oxygen-sans-fonts plasma-oxygen
It's way better to use then Breeze for #touchscreens - i also use it on #SteamOS on my #SteamDeck
I also switched for #konsole, #okular and #gwenview to #Fedora packages. This works much better for remote volumes than the #flatpak versions:
flatpak remove okular gwenview konsole; rpm-ostree install okular gwenview konsole

Pretty sure I'm on my last smartphone. (And I've never had a tablet.) Capacitive touchscreens have always been terrible for me, but at this point any phone or tablet I touch considers me an inanimate object four times out of five. I think I'm done hoping the technology will come around.

It was obvious to tech types like myself why #Tesla went with a touchscreen for their interiors: #Touchscreens are WAY cheaper than gauges, buttons, & knobs.
Tesla spent their R&D dollars in their powertrains, and they became rightfully famous for it, but they spent virtually zero on the vehicle interiors and instead touted the bland interiors as minimalist design ethos…and it worked.
And instead of staying the course, the industry followed, and now people are mad.

I have enough trouble with #touchscreens, and I'm sighted. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you.
Where I am, #retail locations are replacing their older POS #payment terminals with newer-generation ones that ditch the #keypad for a touchscreen. The pads of my fingers are thick and dry and don't activate them well; it takes 3 or 4 tries to activate each "button" press.
How on earth are the blind supposed to use these?

which suggests at least some manufacturers are using touchscreens for indicators and wipers, which is *bonkers*.

@GossiTheDog This is espechally a problem since #Accessibility for #MobilePhones is way worse than for #Landlines - and don't even get me started on #Touchscreens and #TTS!
Whereas I'm convinced most #blind people that use phones can dial emergency services on a regular Touchtone keypad and even abled people can do it...
I mean those boxes are like €50 and a desktop GSM phone is like €100 with battery for WEEKS (!!!) of standby and DAYS of calling time...
