  1. Anyone remember Unknown Orbit?

I reviewed thousands of iOS games on TouchArcade way back when, and one of my favorites of all time was Exbleative's Unknown Orbit, which was basically Tiny Wings .. in 3D .. in space. It was awesome.

Last night the Steam store put a game called Exo One in front of me. In the preview, it looked something like Tiny Wings .. in 3D .. in space. It's 70% off in the Steam store for a few days (currently $5), so I gave it a go.

"A strange signal... an alien craft... an interplanetary, gravity-defying journey through space and time."

Long story short, it's from Exbleative and appears to be a massive evolution of Unknown Orbit (for PC and Xbox), set on strange, eerie worlds and with a mysterious storyline to unravel.

Having been such a fan of the earlier iOS title, I am thrilled to have found this and am having a great time exploring this universe.

"Tiny Wings, Journey and Kubrick collide in this sci-fi delight," says EDGE.

  2. iOS has shown itself to be such a terrible game platform as far as being able to purchase a game and enjoy it for years. Various barriers due to the changing OS (the first mass extinction was no 32-bit apps, years back (which was unnecessary), but it wasn't the last) have left basically no title from the early days of the AppStore still viable.

I've cursed Apple for this many times before, but this morning I am lamenting the absence of the superb Vectrex Regeneration -- a Vectrex emulator targeting the iPad. What a great experience that was.
