Two colonial codices from #Mexico record two centuries-old multilingual symbols. Both record the Nāhuatl language of the #Aztec Empire, plus one additional language. One is a brief phrase that gives the date in #Mixtec and #Nāhuatl. The other is a placename in both #Totonac and Nāhuatl.
Another example are how two pieces of #Bakongo icons play a role in conflict resolution.”

For more than 3000 years, the Mesoamerican culture area was witness to the rise (and fall) of more than eight great civilizations: Olmec, Maya, “Totonac," Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Mixtec, Toltec, and Aztec.
