Yoane Wissa speaks so well. It helps getting intelligent questions from Pat Davison @[email protected]. Wissa gives good answers, gives insight and also shows his very obvious bond with the club. His family were in with the Newcastle travelling support. #TOTNEW

Lot of midfield talent on view #TOTNEW some of it very expensive talent. Nico impressed on Toon debut. The best cost nothing, Lewis Miley. Home-grown, Newcastle fan, only 20. Calm and determined, great work-rate out of possession, an eye for a pass. Relished playing v Tonali.

Anthony Elanga transformed this season. So much more involved in Newcastle games, far more confident and assertive, relishing running at Andy Robertson. 2 goals in 2 PL games. No goals in 32 last season (18 of them sub). Touch of the Thierry Henry in his celebration? #TOTNEW

Newcastle United fans showing their support for Eddie Howe and rightly so, not just for tonight but for what he’s done for them over last few years. Excellent manager. #TOTNEW

Massive result.
Same flaws as usual but Spurs were so bad it didn't matter.
The 442 defensive shape with Willock worked really well but we abandoned it too early.

Newcastle leading only 1-0 is a travesty of a half-time scoreline. Attack after attack, corner after corner, Elanga flying down the right. Spurs so disappointing, little invention, intensity or movement. Booed off. Have to raise their game individually and collectively. #TOTNEW

So nice that we're going to a 442 off the ball instead of the standard 451. You can see how much easier it is to spring counters with Willock closer to Gordon when it turns over.
-
I liked Willock taking that shot. The ball to trips was the easy option and I'm tired of us doing everything via crosses.
-
Bit of a depressing line up that. Burn and Tripps as either fullback is not great.
I don't mind Gordon up front but it's not great either.
That's not a line up that shouts "reset" like we seem to need.
Fingers crossed for a reaction from the players regardless.

🎙️ “We played in the right way, it was nice to see all the fans here. We’re happy that we could put on a performance that hopefully they enjoyed.”

It was great to see the seamless transition between first team to youth team without sacrificing the style of play. You can see the youth players are well versed in Angeball. #coys #mastodonfc #TOTNEW @spurs

Regular time is over and we ended up with Skipp as the only senior player on the field. It was good to get a look at the youth players. Tyrese Hall looks like a really confident and tidy player. Ashley Phillips showing he’s capable of playing against the press with some nice skill on the ball to get around Newcastle’s press. #coys #mastodonfc #TOTNEW @spurs

A very training game vibe to this friendly against Newcastle in Melbourne. Nice goal from Maddison dribbling past the defence inside the box to rifle a shot into the top left corner while some slack defending from Emerson and poor keeping from Austin has let Newcastle back into the game. 1-1 at halftime. #coys #mastodonfc #TOTNEW @spurs

Madders intercepts from Pope, shifts it onto his left foot and rifles home.
A well deserved lead!
