  1. @silentfp

    We differ on the #labourFrontBench - I think most of them are sound but worried they'll blow it like 1993

    My view is this #toryGovt is totally broken and there is no way back for them

    But I am not running #labour

  2. @JimmyB @OliverNoble @KarenawokeKaren

    I rather think the calculation was that #corbyn having lost two elections to the most rightWing, destructive #toryGovt we have ever had, it is time to drop the #selfIndulgence & regain the #centreGround - which #starmer has done

  3. @NBarreyre

    I see lots of comments saying much the same

    Q1: Was the Blair/Brown period a net plus or net minus when compared to the alternative, more #Major style #toryGovt?

    Q2: Will #starmer #labourGovt be better or worse than more #sunak #kipperTory rule?

    Q3: From this point, at max 2 yrs before #nextGE, what exactly can be done to alter course?

    I understand reasoned criticism of #starmer & co for being too bland or deferring to #nativism - but they are #neverTory

    @blepharon

    You go ahead believing that nonsense; it is demonstrably not the case and #Labour exceeded expectations then largely because the #ToriesOut were fighting like rats in a sack

    You might wish #starmer to fail to prove your hypothesis - but I kept my peace whilst watching #Corbyn fail against the most #extreme & #dysfunctional #toryGovt of my lifetime. It would be nice if the #farLeft returned the favour - unlike #Cobyn #Starmer will be out if he fails #nextGE

  5. @YoContextKev

    You mistake the absence of commitments to a commitment not to act.

    In a pre-election period when there is not even a #manifesto why give hostages to fortune? At this statige it is all about maximising victory.

    If you think there is no difference between a 21st Century #LabourGovt and a 21st Century #ToryGovt you have not been paying attention

  6. In any other country the UK Government would be calling this out as corruption, which of course it is. Awarding Government contracts to companies whose directors are chums with Government ministers. Then add into the equation the PPE wasn't fit for purpose.. Stinks from top to bottom.
