  1. All eyes on the Australian Federal Court this week as Uncle Pabai Pabai and Uncle Paul Kabai appeal the 2021 finding that the Australian Government does not have a duty of care to protect Torres Strait Islanders from climate change impacts.

    Torres Strait Islanders are at great risk of cultural loss, and loss of their lands, due to sea level rise. Sea levels in the Torres Strait are rising twice as fast as the global average, and some of the islands are likely to be uninhabitable by 2050.
