@Da_Gut When I want to do inventory I steal the system from #Torchbearer. Each character have a bunch of slots and most are earmarked to where they are, for example 2 slots for hands, 4 for torso. Items then take up slots depending on use and how cumbersome they are. A sword may be Hands 1/Waist 1, backpack Torso 2.

I find it does the job of making inventory matter very well.

@deinol That depends on what you're focusing on. if it's mainly the gritty feel and the blasted landscape, #GURPS After the End should do well or #ApocalypseWorld (on the other side of the spectrum). Though both of those are SF, of course.
If you're just going for high lethality and actually making it hard for characters to survive, you might want to look at #Torchbearer or #FiveTorchesDeep, though I haven't really played those. You can make any RPG arbitrarily survival-like by focusing on realistic healing and resource scarcity, but some take more fiddling than others.

I have asked #chatGPT to generate characters for #burningwheel ,#torchbearer and #mouseguard and it delivered. For years I have used donjon.bin.sh as GM assistant, however recently I found chatGPT very useful for random generation of system-specific things.
