Yikes; at my uni we have "meeting-free weeks" a few times year, in an effort to let people have more time to spend on research and teaching rather than in meetings. In previous years I did pretty well blocking off that time.

This time, my meeting-free week is one big meeting.

Waiting for the rain of meetings to stop here.... time to put up an umbrella and block of time in my calendar.

I'm finding a negative correlation with the number of full professors invited and the likelihood that a meeting will actually take place without being moved at least once.

This negative correlation is exacerbated wildly if a dean is to be present.

(disclaimer: I do realize everyone is doing what they can. This is about too many meetings at all levels of academia.)

I was trying to figure out how to teleport in order to fit in a meeting with many busy people, that could only be at that one specific time which is inconvenient but not impossible for me so I said "yes".... and now the meeting has been moved to a time *much* easier for me.

Recently, I've started playing puzzle games on my phone while in meetings, and it *helps* me pay more attention to the meeting.
If I don't, I can't help multitasking some other way (email, coding, etc) which reduces my attention on the meeting.

That may be too general, but is certainly true for faculty/administrators facing hours of meetings per day. Unless it's a meeting with a student who we know is struggling, in which case we might get angsty.
