The big #museum #mystery: and you could help so fast! 1000 thanks! 🥰
We found this item in our #farmlife museum but *nobody* of our staff has an idea what it is or what you could make with it. Alsace, 19-20th century.
Solution: The best guess came quickly from @Ardeija: a hand #mangler https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangle_(machine) and here by @NilaJones : https://mastodon.online/@NilaJones@zeroes.ca/113188062760584024

#ToolTuesday I missed yesterday, but my favourite tools have to be my bamboo knitting needles. They’re lovely to work with
As for #WIPWednesday, I don’t have any projects on right now because things have been hectic, but I did recently finish a peg bag for my fabric clips. The clever slit bit was alreasy formed, as I made this with sleeve remnants -

I had a hard time deciding on my favorite for #ToolTuesday
My Addi circulars? My favorite tiny scissors? The clear plastic bins that let me see all my yarn while protecting it from moths? Or perhaps the rubbery stitch markers without which I’d lose my mind?It could be any of those. But lately, I’m feeling most grateful for my big project basket. I can carry my work in progress from room to room, have all my tools and notes together, and clean up instantly by shoving everything inside.

For #FiberArtCamp #ToolTuesday, I’d actually love opinions on which #InterchangeableNeedles people prefer for #knitting. I finally feel comfortable investing in a set after using my grandmother’s plastic needles for decades. The plastic needles definitely work, but I’ve since upgraded some circulars to Addi needles, which are so much better for me. Everyone loves Chiaogoo and HiyaHiya, but I really can’t use sharp needles as I’ll poke a hole through my right index finger. I’ve been told by various yarn shops in Europe that Knitter’s Pride (US) / Knit Pro (EU) are extremely popular in Europe, so that adds another contender into the ring. I never knit below fingering weight yarn, and I’ve been on a garment kick lately, so I don’t need sets that are optimized for tiny, lace knitting. @knitting

Hi y’alls, i’m naura.
I love to process fiber. I have been learning how to scour, dye, prepare, spin for about 10 years now.
Unfortunately i had to downsize when we moved so i gifted all my fiber arts stuff to a good friend.
My favorite tools were my hand carders. I just found carding soo soothing. rolling the rolags off of them was also satisfying AF. #ToolTuesday
Nice to meet y’all

Probably my favorite tool for #ToolTuesday is my sewing machine. It's just a little Janome Magnolia, but it's a solid trooper that keeps up with my nonsense.
Honorable mentions go to my seam roller and hera marker.

My favorite/most used tools are my interchangeable circular knitting needles. The Boye NeedleMaster (colored aluminum), was my first set more than 30years ago. They were a big investment for me at the time, and I felt so smart having them. The Denise plastic came about 7-8 years after that. I liked the more flexible cords and the easy way the needles snap on to the cords. The steel Hiya Hiya set is the most recent, maybe 12 years ago, and is my favorite. -
@rachelngibbs uh oh, feels like #tooltuesday is turning into “I really have to get one of those Tuesday”

The second day of #FiberArtCamp is #ToolTuesday :)
I genuinely don't know if I could pick my favourite, so instead I'll talk about the newest facet of my fibre art hobby: machine knitting.
What a rabbit hole, man. My friend gave me a simple Brother bulky machine, and the next thing you know I've got a standard gauge electronic machine and a ribber, and someone nearby was selling a punchcard machine and a garter carriage for a stupidly low price, and and and.
There's a huge learning curve, of course, but the speed is enthralling. I made a blanket/wrap in a couple of days, rather than several months. (Still working on perfecting a sweater pattern that fits me the way I want, though.)

My favourite tools are my Symfonie crochet hooks. Grabbed the picture off the web as mine are all in projects which are dotted about the house. They’re light and really comfortable to use.
