So the cold I picked up on a local train, after successfully avoiding Concrud, has triggered my asthma. Not a surprise.
So the weekend is cancelled.
When I was 18 I had my tonsils removed. Not the old just snip off at the stalk, but the more modern dig it all out. In theory this meant they didn't regrow.
A few years ago I started getting sore throats again. And losing my voice.
It feels weird. -

Heads up to those who have had #COVID19 and still have their #Tonsils
I've lost count of the people I know or have heard about who have developed #quinsy which is a peri-tonsillar abcess. These require immediate review by a doctor and antibiotics. They can be life-threatening if left without treatment (loss of airway). The common denominator for all of these accounts is having had #COVID19
If you have a persistent sore throat and particularly if it's difficult to swallow, see a doctor ASAP.

From the 'Ouch" file..
Guillotine tonsillectomy instrument was considered to be a quick and reliable method for safely removing tonsils. The enlarged tonsil was captured in the circular space at the front, and as the blade was pushed forwards, severing the tonsil.

"In the present #study, we describe how SARS-CoV-2 can silently infect palatine #tonsils and #adenoids from asymptomatic #children."
"Positive immunostaining in adenotonsillar tissue samples suggest that lymphoid tissue can be a reservoir of SARS-CoV-2 and may play an important role in community dissemination."
