  1. Next we have “Coast is Clear” (youtu.be/jj7XxUmZzy0?si=5QedOH) / NO STROBE (youtu.be/iCmP5f48OeE?si=9nSAFW) from 1992’s “Pubic Fruit” (youtube.com/playlist?list=PLw1) by English duo Curve which features the writing and vocals of Toni Halliday. They were later joined by multi-instrumentalist Debbie Smith until their 2005 breakup.

  2. Curve - Cuckoo

Doppleganger—Curve's debut—nearly made the top 10 in the UK. This, their 2nd, may be even better (it's Toni Halliday's favorite), but it...did not.

All I can say is the public is weird and fickle. This is a great follow-up, tilting a bit into more electronica, but it's a confident step forward.

Alas, they'd break up (until 1996) after Cuckoo's failure. >sigh<

  3. Robert Plant - Shaken 'n' Stirred

These 80s Robert Plant albums are better than their reputation suggests. He was definitely making interesting choices, and working with a lot of talented people. Yes, they sound '80s (can't get away from those synths)...

In addition to Robbie Blunt, he brought in Little Feat's Richie Hayward on drums this time...and Toni Halliday of Curve on vocals!

  4. "One of the lushest, most sensual, sinewy, visceral tracks in the #Curve catalog (which is saying something), Superblaster is a deep cut from their Cuckoo LP, and it is an ageless bit of filth-pop, like a less openly aggressive yet even more dark and indulgent counterpart to NIN‘s Closer."
