Tommy Smothers has left us with some great memories. This clip really showcases the Smothers Brothers' warmth and Tommy's genius, absurdist, silly comedic sensibility.
They also lost their show in 19790 as they included a lot of anti-Viet Nam War commentary in their writing.
Speaking truth to power. Rest in Peace, Tommy Smothers.

RIP Tommy. I'll always remember being a kid and laughing my ass off at what the boatmen brought back from their visit to town.
Fun Fact: When CBS cut the budget to "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour", Tommy paid the writers out of his own pocket and kept that a secret for decades.
Goodnight, Yo-Yo Man

On my mental soundtrack today, in honor of Tom Smothers, who left an indelible imprint on my sense of humor, not to mention my political awareness. His memory for a blessing.

Here is the last part of this clip, where they talk about CBS canceling them. They were telling the audience what was going on & being funny at the same time.

Last week I posted a #Christmas song of #TommySmothers.
On Christmas day I showed my 91 year old father-in-law some #SmothersBrothers clips. He saw them perform at the Hungry i in San Francisco.
Here's one of the clips we watched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY6h7ePOSvo
Note the jokes he slipped in, as well as talk about how CBS wanted to cancel them for talking about reality.
#RIP I liked you best.

I surely hope there are no pumas in that crevice.
Rest well #TommySmothers
