Petty Theft (Tom Petty cover band) at the Junction in Mill Valley last Wednesday / imagine my surprise when they introduced their guitar player, Mill Valley’s own Monroe Grisman! (Yes, that Grisman family) / fun night, tight playing and we were posted on the rail so I got some pretty nice shots.

Hypnotic Eye
#tompettyandtheheartbreakers #hypnoticeye #heartlandrock #tompetty #mikecampbell #rock #rockmusic #music #musicsky #musiciansky The 13th -- and final -- album by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers is released on July 29, 2014. It holds a special place in the TP & The Heartbreakers catalog not just because it's the last album, but because it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 -- the first and only time a Heartbreakers studio album topped the chart.

Bella Donna
#StevieNicks #BellaDonna #80smusic #waddywachtel #tompetty #benmonttench #russkunkel #donhenley #classicrock #rockmusic #music #musicsky #musiciansky July 27, 1981 ~ produced by Jimmy Iovine and Tom Petty. It's Stevie's first solo album and reached #1 on the US billboard 200 and sold over 4M albums. Lots of classic tunes but "Edge of Seventeen" is the monster -- driven by Waddy Wachtel's guitar and inspired by the deaths of her uncle and John Lennon.

Highway Companian turns 20 …
It's the third and final solo album from Tom Petty .. released on July 25, 2006. Jeff Lynne reunited with TP and Mike Campbell to co-produce the album .. the same core team behind '89's Full Moon Fever. TP and Mike played almost all the instruments with Lynne adding some brass and background vocals. Together, they captured the relaxed, introspective and bluesy road-trip vibe with aplomb. #tompetty #highwaycompanian #jefflynne #mikecampbell…

Stevie Nicks misunderstood a Southern woman’s accent. It inspired one of her most iconic songs.

"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" is a song recorded by #StevieNicks and #TomPettyAndTheHeartbreakers and released as the first single from Nicks' debut solo album #BellaDonna (1981). The track is the album's only song that was neither written nor co-written by Nicks. Written by #TomPetty and #MikeCampbell as a #TomPettyAndTheHeartbreakers song, #JimmyIovine, who was also working for #Stevie Nicks at the time, arranged for her to sing on it.

Been thinking about Tom Petty again, so of course last night and some more today, had to throw on one of his (Let Me Up, maybe my favorite of his with the Heartbreakers), and that first Wilburys record.

Turn it up a little
Today is 6226 and and Roje’s daily prompt is:
List 3-5 songs on your current playlist that’s in heavy rotation
I don’t have any playlists. I like live music a lot so I’m usually listening to live shows or just albums. I have an mp3 player and I just load that up and I’m ready to go. What I have on changes frequently, but lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Tedeschi Trucks Band. Trucks is Derek Trucks and Tedeschi is Susan Tedeschi (we’re birthday twins) and they’re married. Song for song, show for show, they’re the best and tightest group I’ve heard in a long time. I have three of their live shows on my mp3 player right now. Also one Warren Zevon show, two Tom Petty albums and a Black Stone Cherry album. The closest I might come to a playlist is I always keep The Grass Roots, Their 16 Greatest Hits on my mp3 player. I guess The Grass Roots are like comfort food or something for me. Or maybe like a music reset after listening to a bunch of different stuff.
I also listen to SiriusXM on my phone a lot or through a speaker at home. (There’s probably a better way to say, “or through a speaker at home”, but I don’t know what it is) I bounce around a lot on SiriusXM, but five of the channels I listen to there the most are probably 60s Gold, 70s on 7, The Beatles, Liquid Metal and the Southern Rock channel. SiriusXM is great, it never gets boring because there’s so much choice, but it does get boring because they repeat songs a lot which bugs me and I probably won’t continue the subscription after the promotional period ends.
I guess that answers that.
I really enjoy learning and finding out about new music I can listen to so if you have any songs, artists, albums you like please feel free to leave them in the comments. I listen to pretty much everything.
