Overall, To Every You I've Loved Before is a better movie than To Me, The One Who Loved You because it covers more interesting concepts, including the ethics of swapping worlds.
-
As a standalone movie, To Every You I've Loved Before is worse than To Me, The One Who Loved You because it spends a lot of time explaining the things that happened in the other movie.

To Every You I've Loved Before is the sister movie to To Me, The One Who Loved You. While you can watch these movies in either order, I watched this one second, and I feel like that was the correct choice.

In #ToEveryYouIveLovedBefore (#僕が愛したすべての君へ) #anime #film, it posited that there are small “parallel shifts” that we don't notice. Say, you placed your keys on top of a drawer, the next moment it's not there; then it's back.
But I do notice it! :p
I've also been calling it “parallel shift” since I became aware of my own shifts in the 90s!
I even did experiments to somehow influence my shifts, or to force it. Little success. I mean, like 1 out of 10 attempts. ;)
