  4. Oh, also, the #Setel app’s street parking feature’s nice too. It supports paying for parking in multiple city councils if not all of em - some of em not even supported on #TouchNGo ’s (shitty) #TnGeWallet app. It’s also handy enough to tell u if u don’t gotta pay for parking. I also expect that you could pay for parking straight off of your card rather than needing to topup, unlike some other parking apps (including TnG I think).

  5. Yikes, don’t tell me that the MLFF toll system will be tied exclusively to #TouchNGo/#TnGeWallet.. it’d be a massive downgrade for us to FINALLY support NFC-based (bank) payment methods at the toll gates, instead of locking to only Touch N Go, and then go backwards from that when we have MLFF.

  6. If #Petronas is smart, given how successful the #Setel platform is, they would disassociate it from being exclusive to Petronas, and become a 'third party' instead that can go beyond Petronas. As it is, it has the potential to be a competitor to something like the #TnGeWallet, it may even be better since we all know #TouchNGo 's shit and is only loved by boomers.

  7. ELEHHH the mechanism of how #TnGeWallet will support the #BUDI95 fuel subsidy programme kinda sucks ass and to me, offers almost no convenience whatsoever over the 'manual' way.

Here's how the eligibility verification works for each supported method, atm:

    - Manual NRIC check (all petrol stations): from the counter, or easier - from the gas pump itself, insert your NRIC before making your payment and fuel up. Pretty straight forward, the only inconvenience being needing to take out and use your NRIC physically.

    - Petrol station specific apps such as
#Petronas 's #Setel app: Verify your NRIC once. From then forward, pay and fuel up as you normally do - stop at a gas pump, open the app and select your gas pump, make your payment right from the app, fuel up.

    - TnG eWallet (all petrol stations): Verify your NRIC once. From then forward, from the app, you've to pick the petrol station you're at, the gas pump you're fueling from, make your payment right from the app, get a QR code, WALK TO THE COUNTER, and show that QR code for it to be scanned... THEN walk back to your car and fuel up. Bruh.

All in all, for people already regularly fueling up with Petronas using Setel - no changes whatsoever for you, your app's the best, lucky you. For
#Shell users like me, I gotta wait (supposedly) a month for them to update their ugly, basic ass mobile app and in the meantime.. bringing and inserting my NRIC at the gas pump before tapping and paying using #Apple Pay would prolly be my best bet.

  8. The new mechanism for disbursing RON95 fuel subsidy in Malaysia will be in place/active starting Sept 30. Here's what we know so far:

    - Eligibility will be for all Malaysians (with active driver's license, and valid NRIC ofc), regardless of income bracket.

    - There will be a quota of 300 litres of subsidised fuel per person every month (they say most people would realistically only need ~150-200L) - some special cases may earn more, such as e-hailing drivers.

    - There will be NRIC readers at both counters and gas pumps (this better be true
:blobfoxcat:) - I assume this means you could handle them yourself rather than need a staff to operate it for you.

    - Most importantly, several popular apps will also integrate the feature to verify your eligibility (for subsidised fuel) so you could fuel up without needing to swipe/tap your NRIC manually beforehand. This list of
    #eKYC enabled apps atm includes #TnGeWallet, #Petronas 's #Setel, and (surprisingly) #Caltex 's #CaltexGO.

    - When this
launches, RON95's subsidised rate would be MYR 1.99 per litre, and MYR 2.60 per litre unsubsidised.

    This change also means:

    - Non-Malaysians can also now fuel up with RON95 at an unsubsidised rate, rather than being stuck with the more expensive RON97.

    - Technically, Malaysians can now fuel up their foreign-registered car (i.e. Thai/Singaporean) at subsidised rates, while Non-Malaysians have to fuel up their car (Malaysian-registered or not) at unsubsidised rates.
