Happy Photography Friday friends.
On Wednesday I went to Snake Valley (on the lands of the Wadawurrung) with Out Doors Inc for an overnight adventure.
We did a couple of small stops. On Thursday we were meant to do a longer walk but the van got bogged for an hour in 4wd country thanks to Google maps taking us the "quickest" way. We did not end up doing the walk. Fortunately it only rained on us a bit and we managed to push the van back out & "get outta dodge" (as the saying goes).

Here's an out-take of my photo shoot with sublime artist Jessie Ngaio in rural Victoria on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung. Harcourt was badly affected by fire but the land is finally healing.

On Wednesday my support worker & I ventured to Queenscliff. I've been there a few times but not enough apparently to figure out where West is, so did not get the heavenly Sunset in my images, but I am happy with the images I took.

This week's instalment is from Kingston Park on Kaurna country. I was there this week with family at the caravan park to scatter our ma's ashes on the beach.
We watched as she was washed out to sea. It was a sad occasion, we all had a cry, but it was cathartic to send her off on her final voyage as per her wishes.
Us siblings wear a pendant with some ashes inside, so she comes with us everywhere still (she does more exercise now than she was ever accustomed to 😅). Regardless, she is forever in our hearts, loved always.

This is self described "Gaysian empress of Sydney", Dyan Tai. I took this on behalf of Midsumma at the VIC Pride Street party a couple of weeks ago.
Image description: Dyan Tai, face painted white, wearing a frilly pink and blue two piece, has their midriff showing. Stands with one foot on a speaker and chimes cymbals together in the air.

Here's my friend, Dean Arcuri, aka Frock Hudson at this year's Midsumma Festival Pride March in Naarm.
This is the last week of the festival and I've so far shot 7 events with another 2 to go, including VIC Pride on Sunday (here's hoping the rain decides to skip Fitzroy). I'm an exhausted and sore queer, but love what I do!

Today we have a quick mobile phone shot of a scratched smiley face engraved into a tram panel that I took today on the way home from my exercise physiologist appointment.

This is an image I took with a disposable camera a while back. My partner got the negs printed for Xmas. Whilst most are terrible and half didn't print, I like the grainy moodiness of this print. You can basically feel the chill of the day. What do you think?
Image description: A long white curved jetty with silver balustrades and a wooden seat. The day is almost cloudless but it was bitterly cold and windy.

This image was from my trip to Ballarat, one of my favourite inland towns of Victoria, on the custodial lands of the Wadawurrung people.
Today I give you a ye olde shoppe window I found down an ally.

On Monday my support worker & I went on hikes across the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung people. We ventured to Vaughan and Harcourt & amongst the day we stopped at the Specimen Gully Gold Memorial in Barkers Creek. This stone hut a remnant of the early gold era here in Victoria.
I have been diagnosed with Costochondritis so I had to cut the day short due to being in pain but enjoyed being in nature. I believe nature is tonic for the soul, so please make time to "touch grass" whenever you can.

A couple of weeks ago I was hired to photograph the play "The Last Sunday in June", which played at Chapel Off Chapel, in Prahran (Naarm).
Some really strong performances, so it meant a great deal to me to be able to take images that shone a light on gay life and superb acting.
I am for hire, you can contact me at [email protected] and check out my work at http://tlwvision.au for a small portfolio of what I have done. Does not have to be LGBTQIASB+ related, but I am interested in working with more trans people /organisations and more people with disabilities, as I am of both those worlds.

In my household we don't celebrate sports, we certainly don't take a public holiday for it. Today I went to my regular exercise physiology appointment in the morning then helped my partner at The Little Bookroom, bumping in until 7pm.
This image is from a photography adventure to Clifton Springs that I took recently with my support worker. I love the moody monochromatic blue hues. On this day there were gale force winds so I could not set up my tripod for long exposures, but I had fun nonetheless.
Image description: Portrait image of old jetty pylons heading into the distance. The ocean is choppy and sprayed across the set of pylons. The scene is greyish blue with heavy clouds overhead.

This week's instalment comes from Braeside Park in Naarm. The park is surrounded by industrial, housing, and road networks but you wouldn't know it.

CW: Eye contact from me and a cat
Happy Photography Friday friends.
Something different from me today. Am staying with my sister in Yass, on the custodial lands of the Ngunnawal people.
She has a menagerie: blue tongue lizard, three cats, two large dogs, multiple fish. I'm not used to having animals around me, especially cats & their odd ways. This cat was sitting behind me for about ten minutes before I took this pic. Was it plotting my downfall???
Image description: a white trans man in glasses smiles at the camera. Behind him a black cat sits peeking out, also looking at the camera.

Happy Photography Friday friends, my recent Out Doors Inc adventure went, amongst other places, to Mooroolduc quarry. I like that it has been turned into a nature haven, & the local kids must like it too, given the graffiti.
Image description: Cliff face with bright graffiti sprayed on the surface. Trees adorn the top of the cliff. A wispy cloud shreds across a blue sky above.

This Yule, my partner & I gayly camped at Tidal River, Wilsons Promontory, Victoria, on the custodial lands of the Gunaikurnai and Boon Wurrung peoples.
I have been here plenty of times (it's a natural mecca) but not during peak season and I've gotta say, I actually enjoyed it. There's so much to do besides the beaches that you can actually get away & surround yourself with Mother nature without the frothing hordes.
These two images are from Tidal River before a cold snap came through (along with torrential wind and rain).
What you can't see is the girl gang who climbed up a large boulder to the right of the river and blasted their stereo so loud they had to shout to be heard over the top. To quote an Aussie movie phrase: "There goes the serenity." (The Castle).
It got so bitterly cold and we were only in shorts and tank top that I packed it up before blue hour started. Unfortunately that's when the colours started to pop & I missed out. I have to be thankful for the bliss that I did capture. Enjoy!

It's Photography Friday, friends.
*Content Warning: talk of deceased*
Today I want to talk about this kookaburra, or rather, what this kookaburra used to mean to my ma.
My ma always believed she was being visited by those who had passed. Sometimes she saw them in spectral form. More often her friends and family came in the form of a kookaburra.
Living in the city I don't get visited by kookaburras ever, so when I saw this beauty, I was quite emotional. However, I was with my Out Doors Inc group (highly recommended if you're on the NDIS & live for Country) so had to hold it together in front of strangers.
My heart ache comes on abruptly, punches my gut randomly. In these moments though, I just want to share the beauty with my ma who was so proud of me for getting out of my comfort zones. This time, I believe she was with me.

Haven't done one for a while.
Just taken with my phone on the lands of the Gunaikurnai on my last day up in the High Country of Vic.Having to work whilst on holidays sucked, but I'm proud of the Gala I'm going to showcase & moments like this made the week somewhat soothing.

Went to the relaxed session of Lightscape last night at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Naarm.
Whilst Ticketeks idea of accessibility is having to fill out a form for accessible tickets in order to receive a call to book in (I don't do phone calls so it ended up taking weeks to book), and the fact some parts of the Lightscape path had a warning that the incline might be too steep for wheelchair uses to access on their own (wtf), the music being pumped out being extremely loud, and the organisers idea of lower numbers is quite laughable (read, it was packed by 630pm), I really enjoyed the display.
I would have preferred more interactivity, like with the fire show they had a few years back, you can only stay on the path with this show, rather than wander through the exhibits, but for me, who embraces technology, I liked the use of qr codes to find out about the design houses/artists.
One tip, even if it's inconvenient, enter via the "pink" gate, via the Observatory Gate, Birdwood Avenue, so that you get to absolutely everything of the display. Also, our session started at 530, but it wasn't dark enough for at least 15mins (but Golden Hour/dusk was a light show in itself), so maybe book for 6pm.
I took over 200 images with my 35mm lens and Nikon camera - hopefully I can get my laptop working long enough to edit them!

On Sunday night, as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, we attended the most holy Alex Hines in her superb "Juniper Wilde: Juniper Rising" show at ACMI. It's a sublime hot mess and I'm a total self-confessed "Wildeling". If you ever get a chance to see this show, get on it. It's hilarious.
On the way across the street from the tram, I took this shot of the station all lit in rainbow. 😍
