  1. Now that the ink is dry on my new Service Agreement I can now announce that I have been hired to curate the Maker Space exhibition. The contract covers work to be undertaken for Arts Access Victoria’s Future Reset – Maker Space Program from June 2024 to December 2024.

Maker Space is a series of online and in person visual and digital arts workshops designed to help 18-25 year old youths (at my age I'm calling them youths!) learn new skills and give them resources to create new works and new friends with the opportunity to showcase new works at the end of October (which is my job to curate!).

Arts Access Victoria (AAV), currently celebrating 50yrs, is the peak body for arts and disability in Victoria (in so-called Australia).

It is thrilling to work for a disability-led organisation that plays a vital role in state, national and international discourse, platforming the work of Deaf and Disabled artists, arts workers and creatives.

As many of you may know, my multimedia series, "The Reclamation of Terra" was largely created in the Arts Access studios - an AAV studio in Merri-Bek I've been practising my own craft at for 18+ months.

I am so grateful to CJ and the stellar team for asking me to come on this journey. As a proud queer, trans, disabled human I can't wait to champion young voices emerging in the art world.

  3. My first exhibition where I had my own room to showcase my current series of work and I sold a piece. To the CEO of Arts Access Victoria, no less.
Hours later and I feel like my feet still haven't reached the ground!
I've only been painting since August 2022. So what's next. 🤯
Exhibition open Thurs, Fri, and Sat in Naarm.
    Very thankful. 🙏🏼

  4. Off to the gallery opening at 2pm for the Yarra Sculpture Gallery Summer Residency Group Exhibition in Naarm sporting my new fashion accessory.

I've lost sensation in my 4th and 5th fingers and my gp suspects it might be the ulnar nerve.

Also this week I found out that the left shoulder pain I've been experiencing for months is due to bursitis........ and....... arthritis! 👀

Apparently, at 47, I'm getting old.

  5. Here are just two of my favourite images from today.

Kath Duncan - Co creator of "Quippings" is an absolute legend and bloody brilliant person to have a yarn to. I like this image because Kath is ALWAYS animated and this is a little insight into her personality.

Hailing from the UK, Jo Clifford is the author of over 100 PLAYS. Before today I must admit to being unfamiliar with her work, but her insights on the panel today were gold. I love the look she is giving the little sparrow in this image.

  6. Had a great day at Midsumma events here in Naarm. Discussion of accessibility in the arts, artist centric policy, the evolution of the queer scene, cross cultural art and so much more to engage the brain.

I never understand certain gays (I'm sure you've all met one) who say they hate the "gay scene". I'm like oh, so you don't like classical music, opera, critical thinking, community (r)evolution, cabaret, burlesque, music of all varieties, film, documentaries, art galleries, book launches and workshops, etc etc? What do you do with your life?! Do you lack all culture in your life???

Anywho, Pride March is tomorrow in St Kilda and I'm photographing it, give me a wave and say hi if you see me.

  8. Last night we went to Follies Girl and Ziegfeld Boy at Chapel off Chapel in Prahran, Naarm.
Blues singer, Mama Alto, has shifted to upbeat follies seamlessly and Josh curated numerous show-stopping vignettes (and costume changes).
Buy your tix for the next sessions (if they haven't already sold out).

  9. Today I start my art residency with the Yarra Sculpture Gallery through ArtsAccess Victoria. I have the projection room. Some lights for working & to spotlight the wall for my canvases will be installed this arvo. Bring on the creativity!
