Fresh review time (video and text) as I test out the Corsair K70 Pro TKL keyboard. I’m meant to like it for the magnetic actuation switches… but I found another feature even more appealing.

Premier jour avec un clavier TKL (pour "TenKeyLess" = sans pavé numérique) ⌨️

Eh ben j'ai beaucoup de (mauvais) automatismes liés à la présence habituelle du pavé numérique, ne serait-ce que pour le tiret/moins et la touche Entrée, et ma capacité à trouver les touches de direction au toucher seul.

Je pense que ça restera un bon clavier pour les déplacements pro, mais je resterai fidèle à mes claviers full-size.

When I last bought a #keyboard I couldn't find any that was mechanical, #TKL std ANSI layout, >1 wireless connections, <5ms latency, backlit, hot-swappable, & w/o expensive features I don't need like configurable activation height and OLED screens.

I compromised on 'hot swappable', got a Logitech G915, and am regretting it. A 2nd switch has died & I don't want to keep desoldering them.

So I'm noping out, buying another, only 16 months later. There are more choices now than I can track!

My 2nd #mechanical #keyboard a #keychron C3 Pro another low cost (entry level keyboard) I paid $47 for it, it can be found a little cheaper like it's on sale on amazon for $40 now. It has #hotswap switches, and can be reprogrammed with the usevia website.
It comes with brown switches, and true RGB leds, everything I thought I was buying with my first really cheap mechanical keyboard, and for only a few dollars more.

Holy crap, I think I'm in love! Earlier this week I had a somewhat disappointing experience with the #ModelM #keyboard, and after repeatedly being encouraged to try out a smaller form factor than the #tkl or #tenkeyless (no numeric keypad), I decided to use my lunch break to visit the local gear shop. It's located way to close to my place of work, which in itself is a curse. Anyway, I was jonesing for a small keyboard, possibly wireless as well, that would fit in my work bag and perhaps be programmable. I've been looking at #Keychron keyboards a couple of times, but so far I've only had a #DasKeyboard TKL 4C and a #Vamilo va88m. Those, unfortunately, are not programmable in any way. I was unsure to get smooth red switches or brown tactile ones, but this is what I ended up with: the Keychron K6 Pro with prelubed Keychron K Pro Mechanical Brown switches, and by Cthulhu's tentacle beard, this keyboard is beyond delicious. @catsalad I like my Keychron C1 retro-color with gateron "silent" browns (used at work) and my home K8 Pro (full metal heavy as a tank edition) with gateron yellows (I left some blues in for a nice sound on things like Enter and Esc). Semmoisenkin tiedon sain, että jos #Nokia–#Tampere–#Toijala-välin #lähijuna'an jotain hukkaa, tavara pysyy vain junassa kunnes joku poimii mukaansa.

Yritin junanpäätyä vaihtavalle kuskille tarjota jonkun hukkaamia käsineitä ja pipoa, mutta kuski viskasi ne laukkuhyllylle ja selitti kaluston vain seilaavan väliä eestaas. @benjaminhollon: Yep, #TKL is also my preferred layout. (Typing this on a Varmilo VA87M.) Or rather one of two preferred layouts. The other one is the 40% #MiniVan layout with cursor keys. The MiniVan is my preferred travel keyboard.

As Emacs user I don't need Escape that often. Ctrl, Alt/Meta and Shift are much more use in Emacs. (And yes, I know, I can use it as prefix instead of Alt/Meta.)

So for compatibility with HHKB layouts, I usually map Caps-Lock as a second left Ctrl key.

Basically, normal keyboards are worst-case design (not exaggerated).

In the end, here it came my new #mechanical #keyboard.
The case is a barebone #Glorious #GMMK 1, #ISO #TKL.
Switches are #Gateron #SMD blue.
Keycaps are #YMDK #Dolch #PBT side-printed, full 125 set plus #Italian and German sets, mixed together to create the Italian 142 layout on the keyboard.
So, in the end "Dr. Black", my new keyboard, is here.

Ich hab seit kurzen eine Tastatur im Formfaktor #TKL und muss sagen das mir der Num Block zwar noch ab und an fehlt. Aber es von Tag zu Tag besser wird und ich genieße den zusätzlichen Platz auf dem Schreibtisch doch irgendwie, und mir fängt an die Kompaktheit zu gefallen.
