Zeit für ein zufällig ausgewähltes Schottland-Foto des Tages: ein Crofters‘ Cottage auf Tiree. Die Insel gehört zu den Inneren Hebriden. Crofter waren Pächter, die im 19. Jhdt. von Landbesitzern immer weiter eingeschränkt, verdrängt oder vertrieben wurden. Oft zugunsten profitablerer Landnutzung wie Schafzucht. In den 1880ern wehrten sie sich. 1886 kamen z.B. 250 Marinesoldaten nach Tiree, weil Crofter Land des Duke von Argyll besetzt hatten.

Schottland-Foto des Tages aus meinem Archiv heute: Anflug auf die Insel Tiree. Sie gehört zu den inneren Hebriden und gilt als der sonnigste Ort Schottlands. Ziemlich windig ist‘s aber auch. Ich sag mal so: Sieht nur solange aus wie die Karibik, bis man einen Zeh ins Wasser steckt.
