Hello all I am looking to introduce my kid to ttrpgs. While they know of D&D its a bit of a beast so I have been looking to alternatives.
The one that catches my attention it the TinyD6 setup. Simple and not really limited sounds very appealing.
What are your thoughts on TinyD6 or other good starter systems?

oh, i just saw that there is a bundle of holding for the tiny d6 games. if you are in need of a dead simple but deep game, make sure to check out the tiny d6 games like tiny dungeon or tiny frontiers. i used tiny cyberpunk for my next solo playthrough btw.

I finished up my Tiny Supers custom character sheet. Free to download in both US letter and A4 sizes.
More people should try Tiny Supers. It's an elegant little system.

@PepitoStronzo Wir haben aktuell jeden Dienstag eine #DSA5 Gruppe ab ca. 19:30 Uhr in der Forsthütte (zweite Tür an der Seite). Es gibt auch noch eine sich unregelmäßig treffende #tinyd6 / #tinydungenon Gruppe. Komm gerne einfach mal vorbei.
Und natürlich gibt es da noch "Mutterstadt spielt!" im April, das wir zusammen mit #Vorderpfalzspielt und der #AWO organisieren. Da werden auch wieder einige Rollenspieler kommen.

Last night I ran my second game of #TinyD6 #ttrpg set in my homebrew settimng called #Tektoa.
Wouldn't you know: when I actually came prepared for the game, the session went much more smoothly.
It's not even that I got a chance to do anything particularly complex or innovative, but the mere feeling of being ready helped me remain calm and focused during the session. 1/?

Most recently, I bought the game Tiny Pirates. It is one of the several #TinyD6 products I own.
While this game specifically is oriented towards playing 17th century pirates, the system is flexible enough that there are versions for playing #Cthulhu games, #western, #Fantasy, and so on.
While I still haven't actually ran a TinyD6 game, I am... cautiously optimistic about this.

I'm slowly teaching my kids RPGs. We've started with collective storytelling sessions using Mystical Throne Entertainment's Little Heroes. It's great even for preschoolers. Now that they know how to read and write I'm moving on to Tiny Dungeon 2E to give play a little bit more structure. Overall it's being delightful. Give them a try:

And yet, basic rules are still quite simple and clear. Whatever over complication there is is solely my fault.
I made a Google Docs document for my players, copying relevant rules. All in all, there's about 30 pages covering combat, equipment, character creation, adventuring... Everything!

#FrontierScum seems really fun for one-shots, but I'm not sure I could run a whole campaign using that system.
#OwlHootTrail looks like fun, but it is too much about transposing D&D classes and races into the Western setting.
#SavageWorlds is just a tiny bit too crunchy for me.
I also checked out two setting-appropriate #Ubiquity games: #HollowEarthExpedition and #LeaguesofAdventure, but, for some reason, they just didn't click for me.

Choosing the right RPG for my Colonization of the Lost World setting was a challenge.
I'm not a fan of crunchy games, yet, I didn't want to use a pure storytelling game, either. Also, it kinda sounds a bit like an OSR game, with players going out from their base to explore the wilderness around them.
Also, also, I would probably run this game over Discord, so I didn't want to burden my players with too many rules or funky dice.

So far, we got:
- exotic setting with dinosaurs, jungles and ancient ruins
- victorian adventurers and some sort of Wild West cowboys/mercenaries
- the primary villain is the predatory corporation exploiting the land and the people.Let's stop here for the time being. I want to present this idea in more digestible chunks. :-)

... I kinda want to dig into these themes.
Karl Freund's amazing #FrontierScum gave me the idea of this predatory corporation looking to exploit the New World for all its worth, no matter the cost for the nature, the workers, or the natives.
Kinda like the third season of the TV series #Deadwood, when George Hearst tries to buy off all the gold claims around the town using whatever means necessary.
Player characters should naturally align against such villain.
