I have a question for the #tinkerer community. This board is from an Argus 3 Ultra camera which has a crumbled USB connector (known issue). The camera is fine and has been replaced under warranty so I'd rather not throw this one out as a result without trying a repair.

I can't find a replacement board vendor so my only option is to replace the USB port entirely. I've never done this though, my question is - is it feasible to replace? I assume I need to desolder it from the top and bottom? Does anyone know of a UK vendor that sells the same USB C ports, or is it the kind of generic connector I could buy and adjust from any electronics hobby shop?

My main knacks include recent fascinations with #eeg tech [#neuroprosthetics] and #hardwarehacking, #raspberrypi tinkering, and recycling/modifying old hardware with miscellaneous parts I find [which I might have dumpster dove for]. Example: (WIP) Turning an old laptop display into a desktop monitor (shoutout to #DIYPerks)! Plus, MASSIVE #LINUX NERD!! My fav. distro is #voidlinux!

I also dabble in #programming with #python, #C, and #cplusplus, but I might give #Rust a go once I've become fluent in both python and #micropython. I also dabble in #FreeCAD, #Blender, and #digitalart too, but I need more practice before I can model/sketch my ideas.

Finally, my main project? BUILDING A #PROTOGEN SUIT WITH A PI 5 THAT RIVALS IRON MAN HIMSELF. I WILL FIND A WAY_

Yesterday I translated the #childrens' #book #AdaAndZangemann by the #fsfe's @kirschner and sandra brandstätter to #norwegian.

Today I #gift the first copy (from the printer at the public library) to my nephew. He's got a #tinkerer and destructor heart, so here's to hoping he becomes a white-hat #hacker or #ReverseEngineer

question for the #esp #tinkerer and #maker

I have a larger bunch of these ESP32 board and they have a battery connector. I understand you connect LiPo batteries to it.

I want to connect sensors like a BME680 to them and run them outside. Naturally i'd like to extend lifetime.

Anyone experience with that? What do i need there?

What makes sense? I think i can make the battery gigantic sot he power consumption of the ESP32 is tiny compared to the self-discharge but that does not make sense?
