Okay so. I was quick to blame the rolling video on the system when in fact the system appears to be working fine despite the keyboard. Below is a screenshot from my oscilloscope showing a solid video. And when I say solid I mean rock solid. I even see the prompt show up from time to time on the waveform.
This is where I stop for today. If this thing is working fine then I need to source a keyboard or repair the one I have, and sort out a better way to see the video. I think I have one.

Well this sucks. The keyboard connector sheered off and didn't need any force to do so. Some of it is still stuck in the connector on the board.

And before you say anything, yes I know it's not composite, I have this plugged into a demodulator.

Oh yeah look at that roll. Does the same thing on both channels. I also notice that the keyboard doesn’t appear to work. It almost seems like it is stuck in a reset loop. Time to open it up.

I love how bold they were with the power supply. A wall wart that could kill audio equipment or your brand new computer if you plugged it in wrong. How many systems died like this? Did it happen to this system?
Anywho. I'm reading 12v no load so time to plug it in.

Wow, this system is very clean. It looks very low mileage! I wonder how much it was used and if it even is the same system as originally boxed. I'd have expected water damage to show up somehow on the outside.

Everything is there. Looks in good shape but I'm not getting my hopes up. This was sold cheap on eBay as a parts or repair unit.
I love the Timex Sinclair logo embossed on the styrofoam packing. Nice little touch.

Up on my workbench. A Timex Sinclair 1000. The box is intact but in horrible shape. Looks like water damage.
