If you're looking to mix things up, try a song that switches time signature, either between song parts (verse to chorus), or by inserting a bar or two here and there in a different meter! Examples: “Blackbird” (Beatles), “Hey Ya!” (Outkast), “Africa” (Toto), “One” (Metallica)

Here's the 18th #Volatil piece from a few months ago. The #TimeSignature is crazy (11 beats in groups of 6 and 5, with the bass marking them as clearly as I could, but then some bars have 12 beats to spice things up).
I was also experimenting with my new #ElectricGuitar. I'm not much of a player so it took quite a few tries to get something semi-decent.
Oh, and another part was the chord progression. I used that new "Chord Sequencer" thing in #Reason to help me do it.

I'm listening to a 3:2, 5/8 beat from a #metronome running on my phone. I found this irregular #timeSignature a great fit for "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel. But most #music I encounter is regular: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 12/8, etc. It's so common that metronome apps exist, which don't even offer irregular time signatures. #FDroid offers 2 metronome apps at the moment. Only 1 can do 5/8. It lets us define custom rhythm structures. And 5/8 is a really easy structure.
