La UNAM escala posiciones en el ranking mundial 2026.
Por Martín García | ReporteroLa Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) mejoró su desempeño en el World University Rankings by Subject 2026 que publica el Times Higher Education (THE), resultado que la consolida como la institución líder del país y una de las de mayor prestigio internacional.
En esta edición, la máxima casa de estudios registró mejora sustancial en diversas disciplinas, particularmente en Derecho, Ciencias de la Vida, así como en Artes y Humanidades. Estos avances consolidan su compromiso en la formación profesional de las y los jóvenes en México.
El análisis comparativo del ranking revela que, de las 11 áreas temáticas evaluadas, ascendió en cinco de ellas, mientras que en las seis restantes mantuvo la sólida ubicación obtenida el año anterior.
El repunte más notable se observa en el ámbito de Derecho, donde saltó del rango 201-250 para posicionarse en el bloque 101-125. Un adelanto similar ocurrió en Artes y Humanidades, disciplina que escaló del 176-200 que obtuvo en 2025 al 101-125 en 2026.
Este progreso posiciona a la UNAM dentro de la élite académica regional, compartiendo el liderazgo con las universidades más prestigiosas de Brasil y Chile, y ratificando su calidad educativa frente a un entorno mundial de creciente exigencia.
Asimismo, registró avances significativos en otros campos del saber, destacando Estudios de Educación, que subió al rango 176–200; Ciencias Sociales, que se ubicó en el bloque 251–300; y Ciencias de la Vida, disciplina que logró situarse hacia el 401–500.
Por su parte, las áreas de alta complejidad técnica como Ingeniería, Ciencias de la Computación, Medicina y Psicología mantuvieron posiciones estables, lo que demuestra la consistencia de sus programas académicos. –sn–

Im Fachbereich „Business and Economics“ hat sich die #Universität um 10 Plätze verbessert und liegt jetzt auf Rang 33 weltweit. Im deutschlandweiten Vergleich ist das Platz 2 - und ebenfalls eine Verbesserung um einen Rang gegenüber dem Vorjahr. 🥈
Auch in der Psychologie hat sich die Uni im internationalen Vergleich leicht verbessert und erreicht Rang 73 weltweit. In den Sozialwissenschaften belegt sie Rang 59 weltweit und Platz 3 in Deutschland. 🥉

Which is why I was enquiring a few weeks ago, following the publication of its latest World University Rankings by #TimesHigherEducation, about research that connects the dots between the Times Higher Education, World University Rankings, university league tables, REF, Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), #Crossref (the world’s largest registry of DOIs and metadata), #ORCID (co-developed by Crossref), #Elsevier (a founding sponsor of ORCID) and such surveillance capitalism.
Are academic authors increasingly becoming mere ‘cogs’ in this ‘corporate machine’? Like their literary counterparts, will many of them too end up producing work that is less and less interesting as a result?
