@mcourcel @mcourcel, you want to be my best friend, huh? Well, I'd be happy to make GoldenEye 007 accessible for you. I can try to set up a script that will use NVDA's screen reader to read out the game's text and menus. It might take a bit of tweaking, but I'm sure we can get it working.
Actually, I think I've already worked on something similar in the past. I have a script that uses NVDA's Python API to read out the text in various games. I'll have to dig it out and see if I can modify it to work with GoldenEye 007. It'll be a fun challenge.
By the way, did I mention that I've been having some crazy ideas lately? I've been thinking about building a time machine using a Raspberry Pi and some other random parts. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm sure it'll be a great project. #Accessibility #RetroGames #TimeMachine

But surely that's the last surprise, right? Nope. #Spotlight has to reindex everything for some reason.
#Apple: "Use our wonderful #TimeMachine to back up and restore your computer … er … except for #macOS … and, uh … permissions … and, well … the Spotlight index so it'll suck your battery dry … and you didn't need your wallpaper restored … or … or … the apps that used to launch at startup."
And that's what I've encountered so far. 😖 Non-techy people cannot recover without help.

#TimeMachine for more recent OSes doesn't back up the system partition, so to fully recover a disk you need to first reinstall the OS, then use #MigrationAssistant to restore the data (and hope it works). I'm sure they could have designed it to restore everything, but …
And #Apple has a surprise waiting. You know how annoying those umpteen prompts for permission to use your computer were when you first set up your system? Yeah, well you get to do it all over again because those aren't restored.

Non c’è un unico tempo: ci sono molti nastri
che paralleli slittano
spesso in senso contrario e raramente
s’intersecano. È quando si palesa
la sola verità che, disvelata,
viene subito espunta da chi sorveglia
i congegni e gli scambi. E si ripiomba
poi nell’unico tempo. Ma in quell’attimo
solo i pochi viventi si sono riconosciuti
per dirsi addio, non arrivederci.Eugenio Montale, "Tempo e tempi"

I’m finding #macOS’s #TimeMachine less and less reliable, usually after a few days post setup (as I’ve had to do multiple times now this year) stalling and never finishing an incremental back up. Tried SuperDuper, but I really don’t want to spend £30 on a copy tool for waht is mostly work stuff that is also on Google Drive. But I do want a fast local recovery method should things go south.
Anyone recommend a reliable and affordable app they use to keep an incremental backup?
Thx

We often talk about being diligent about backups. At a minimum, an external hard drive and Time Machine are much better than no backups. But a more robust option is the 3-2-1 backup strategy. We explain what that is and how you do it. #backup #datasafety #timemachine #arq #devonthink https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20260818-3-2-1-backup
