NZ is good at training medical professionals but not good at retaining them. So we rely on overseas trained doctors especially to fill the need.
My home town is attracting some top line professionals for our health services.
It's a nice place to live.

#TimaruWhen the small South Island town of Timaru and its cluster of US doctors hit the front page of the Wall Street Journal last week, it highlighted New Zealand's dependence on overseas doctors, particularly in rural and regional parts of the country.

A Sovereign Citizen builds a swimming pool... and you'll never believe what happens next!
In Timaru court Simon Richardt claimed he was "Simon in the living" -- the judge said he was not there to play “Simon says”. And the judge's final comment is a beaut.
"Ignorance of the law is not a defence and neither is ignorance in general.”
Fined $18,000.
Touché!

I know there's a hundred good reasons to have more green shit in urban areas generally, but we were in town ( #timaru ) today for a WOF and I took kiddo for a walk round the borderline industrial area, mildly concerned about being able to keep her occupied for the required time.
She was really into all the wee busy plantings around one set of businesses, and then, outside Tyre General, she found this little bermspace. It was the single, squinchy-dry strawberry we noticed first, but as well as the big bush that dominates this picture are 2 types of mint, lavender, dandelion, plantain, yarrow and a bunch of stuff I didn't recognise. She had a tactile ,almost literal field day! Touching, smelling, raining petals down on herself. Ascertaining which ones had been planted deliberately and which ones were likely weeds to figure out what she was allowed to pick, and playing eye-spy games, we easily killed a good half hour there.
At a glance, it's such a paltry, dry looking patch, but it's hard to explain all the inherent value in there.
