The FAA today announced a proposed update to its air carrier definition to include powered-lift operations: https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/notice-proposed-rulemaking-air-carrier-definitions
It's mostly an administrative change, but necessary to enable winged #eVTOL and #tiltrotor (i.e. AW609) aircraft to be used in commercial operations.
