  4. Today's #TIFF23 movie is Hit Man.
Richard Linklater directs this mostly-comedy about a philosophy professor who moonlights as a part time undercover hit man.

Friends, I did not know this was a comedy.
    It works though.
There was one very delicious scene where the audience erupted in applause. Well deserved.

Linklater stayed for an enjoyable and loose Q&A.

  5. Film number 2 for.me at #TIFF23 was Michael Keaton's Knox Goes Away.
About a hit man with rapidly advancing dementia.
Very strong performances, and the story is just so...good. I keep turning the story over in my head long after the end. Just beautifully paced and landed. Keaton directed.

I had two tiny irritants but I'll let them slide.

  6. My #tiff23 yesterday started with the Errol Morris doc on John Le Carre.
If you know either of those names you'll know how lucky I felt to watch it, let alone on a big screen.

It's a deeply narrative look at LeCarre's life and work. Very well done.

Also two of Cornell's sons co-produced and we're on hand for a panel discussion afterwards, along with Errol Morris himself.

The only downside was how high my expectations were...

  9. Jealous of the Toronto people who have the ability to see Jenna Ortega in Finestkind this week. Hopefully worldwide cinema releases will follow soon.
