⚡️ 17 people in Baja California, Mexico died from rickettsiosis brown tick, caused by Rickettsia ricketsii. The disease is transmitted through tick bites or contact with tick droppings. Stray dogs are a reservoir for the main tick vector. Prevention involves avoiding tick bites and ensuring pets and gardens are free of ticks.
